Don't know what this means for Stephen Carr, however. Result.

A one match ban for Carr I think.

The Headline could read 'Carr Parked for 1 game'

go on, tell me i'm a wasted talent ;)

Refs angry with FA after Parker booking is rescinded

Wednesday October 26 2005

A row is brewing between the Premiership's referees and the FA after Scott Parker’s booking in the Tyne-Wear derby was overturned.

Parker appealed that his yellow card was a case of mistaken identity, arguing that team-mate Steve Carr had in fact felled Andy Welsh.

An independent three-man FA commission agreed with Parker and on Tuesday transferred his ban to Carr instead.

However, match referee Rob Styles, who wasn't contacted by the commission, insists that he was right to book Parker and Keith Hackett, the head of the Premier League referees association, is 'concerned that the FA are undermining the authority of match officials', reports The Daily Telegraph.

"The referee was adamant he did not caution the wrong player," Hackett told the newspaper. "He cautioned Parker for unsporting behaviour and did not consider what Carr did worthy of a yellow card."

Hackett accused the commission, who are not believed to have any referring experience, of "re-refereeing" games.

Rob Styles is a joke tbh.

I'd love to see Styles in an interview state that he was right, whilst watching the footage.

If he was right to book Parker for that, they'll be 44 yellow cards every match.

Running = yellow card.

Amazing.

The dissent seemed to come from Parker after he was booked. Which is understandable given it was a case of mistaken identity.
