JawD 99
Wait! Dont close the thread just yet. I'm doing a coast to coast walk at the end of May 09. Solway to Wallsend, 84 mile over 5 days. Then Im doing the great north run at the end of september. I'm doing this for charity in aid of the Sunshine Fund Sunshine Fund provides specially adapted equipment, custom built apparatus or special learning aids, for children with disabilities or special needs, to improve the quality of their lives. The fund is helping North East children in special schools, learning units, hospitals and also individual families. So, I'm asking all of you to give even just £1 or £0.50 to my Justgiving page. I know times are very tough for some at the minute and I certainly don't expect anything from anyone. But, these people do a fantastic job and I'd just ask that if anyone can, no matter how small, do. Im starting training from tomorrow. Doing a 10mile walk around Haltwhistle. Running I'm starting training from next week with 3 mile run and I'll be builidng up to around 10 mile by august. Feel free to take the piss or add any tips for either Edited February 27, 2009 by JawD

Jill 0
I'll chip in when I get a chance, one of the partners at my work is very much involved with the Sunshine Fund and it's a good cause.
Meenzer 15347
Done. Applied for the GNR myself but didn't get in, probably going to do a wee 10k at some point instead and see how that goes. Not quite as much of a commitment, but I'll still be hassling you good people for donations in due course.
Scottish Mag 3
Good stuff dude will throw some money your way and hopefully if my I can get my kneecaps back in place I will be joining you on the GNR... You could always get a charity place if you reckon enough people will sponsor you as they look from around £300 to £500 depending on the charity... Yeah, I was looking to run for a specific charity that doesn't buy GNR places (even though they're active at the RVI - grrr), hence applying independently. I might still go down that route with a different charity though.

Walked from Haltwhistle to Lambley Viaduct up the old rail line. Then acros the pennine route for a bit (moorland) and back down the side of the south tyne (I think). Was about 10 mile in all and took 4 1/2 hours. Mid week I'll be training for the run starting with a 3 mile run on monday.

JawD 99
Nice one to Mr Baggio who has paid up as well as making his own donation. Sure has. Took me a quick email to realise who had made such a generous donation but yes, the bet was paid up in full and he topped it up with a nice little sum as well. All very much appreciated. Not only that, but it tipped me over my target figure of £500.

JawD 99
Well, I'm all set. The digs are booked along the way, I had my last training walk at the weekend (12 mile around a wet and very windy kielder) and I have all my gear sorted. Im still training for the north run as I go, though Im not as confident about that as I am the walk. Currently running around 4.5mile. Also hit my sponsorship target which I was well chuffed about to thanks all for helping with that.

I'm doing it at the end of June and have also just booked my accommodation (9 of us, bit of a challenge). We're staying in Motherby and Nenthead. I'll start begging for cash on here myself soon.
