trophyshy 7095
35 mins on the tube, about 6 miles. I travel outside of rush hour, get into work around 10. Never asked permission for this like. Have to agree with Stevie, perhaps with less venom , but most office workers are dullards. I have given up trying to be friendly, as they just have nothing to give. Met one good lad through work and I have been there over 2 years. I couldn't work from home all the time though, not disciplined enough. Xbox or porn, Xbox or porn, hmmm there's beer in the fridge and it's after 11 etc etc.
Scottish Mag 3
I've worked from home since early 2004 - freelance for a couple of years, full-time since then (with a company that believes in telecommuting). Not sure I could ever become part of an office environment again, which will likely prove a problem at some point... Do you not miss the social side of office work though. I think i'd get cabin fever working from home every day. Most people in offices are cunts, regardless how high up the food chain you are. You have women who genuinely have nothing to say, yet talk all day about such interesting things as weight watchers points, you have backstabbing, I would say 60% of people in offices are arseholes, who are happy being a tiny cog in a big wheel, and will step all over other people to get that tiny bit further up their superiors arse. Surely you should be listening more closely to those conversations mate Gotta get that BMI down afterall...

luckyluke 2
Halifax is 14 miles west of Leeds on the M62. Takes me an hour each way if I'm doing a normal day (9-5) but half that if I'm working at the weekend or later in the evening.
Geordieboyo 0
Normally around an hour each way along the motorway. Currently 250 miles so up at half 2 on a Monday am, stay in a hotel till Thursday and drive back Thurs evening. It sucks

The Fish 11079
45 minutes on two tubes. Nice and easy. Stevie's right though. I much preferred working outside an office. The constrictions of the place.. feel like a battery hen even if you're doing varied work. The people... oh God the people. 15 years in the job and have zero outside of the job of interest about them. All they talk about is the job or X-Factor, they get agitated when a form changes from portrait to landscape, they positively implode when it's suggested that they relocate within the office. I miss waking up and casually getting some breakfast while watching the news, maybe doing a bit of work, maybe stroll to a bakery or drive into to town to have some lunch, maybe read the paper, maybe do some work, maybe eat some tea, maybe do some more work, go to the gig... I'd only get cabin fever if I was completely bound to the house.... which would be unlikely.

Don't get me wrong, there are things about my job I don't like, but you've roughly described my day, the bit in bold. My only regrets about offices are that when I worked in them, I didn't tell enough people what I thought about them. You shouldn't go through regretting things that you haven't said, I can think of three people in particular, who I could abuse for one hour with varied, damaging, ground breaking abuse, that would do nobody any good other than making me feel completely and utterly childishly satisfied. One woman I worked with fuck me she was called Fiona and was from Cramlington, proper fuckin borin all inclusive in Turkey every year sort of bint, she is and was the biggest cunt in the history of womankind, I've never ever seen blatant arselicking, backstabbing and report telling to the gaffa, as this utter cunt of a woman, and her fella was polliss, say no fuckin more. She was one of these women, she had a Princess Di wedding hair cut 18 years after the wedding, and in fairness had a reasonable boat, but an arse like Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, I'm trying hard to emphasise just how deeply this woman was a fuckin arsehole, and I'm failing to do her cuntishness justice but rest assured she was a total bastard. It's not an office but I get on with almost everyone at work. It may have its problems but I wouldn't to work anywhere else but the NHS.
