Ramos open to Prem return

Juande Ramos has insisted he could one day return to the Premier League, amid claims he has already rejected an approach from an unnamed club.

The former Spurs chief left England with his reputation severely tarnished after he lasted just 12 months at White Hart Lane.

However, Real Madrid came calling in January and he has performed well with the Spanish champions as they are now clear in second place in La Liga.

Indeed Real president Vicente Baluda is hoping to tie him down before the summer elections, such has been his impact.

And Ramos' work has not gone unnoticed back in England, with Spanish reports claiming he has shunned an offer.

Newcastle, who are also said to be keeping close tabs on Olympiakos' highly-rated Spanish coach Ernesto Valverde, are said to have sounded out Ramos about a possible summer move to Tyneside.

And Ramos has now admitted he would consider a move back to England.

"My priority is with Real Madrid, but I would also like to have a clear idea about my future," he told the Daily Mirror.

"Just because I left Tottenham, that does not mean I cannot return to the Premier League.

"That league still holds many challenges for me."

According to the Mirror , Ramos, who was sacked by Spurs following the worst start to a season in the club's history, has been lined up to replace Joe Kinnear at Newcastle.

Spurs were four points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League, after taking just two points from eight matches, before giving the Spaniard the boot.

However, Ramos' stock remained high in Spain, where he enjoyed incredible success at Sevilla before moving to White Hart Lane.

As such, Real Madrid appointed him cartaker coach at the Bernabeu, following the sacking of Bernd Schuster.

This may have raised a few eyebrows in England, but in Spain it was viewed as a sensible move on the part of Real.

However, Ramos' contract with the current La Liga champions expires at the end of the season, and reports suggest Real want to bring in Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as their permanent manager this summer.

With Kinnear having undergone heart surgery, the managerial position at St James could become available, and Ramos said: "My priority is with Real Madrid, but I would also like to have a clear idea about the future.

"Just because I left Tottenham, that does not mean I cannot return to the Premier League. That league still holds many challenges for me."

Presidential elections this year for Madrid. People in the running will be name dropping for big named players and manager. But Ramos is doing a great job and I would easy take him back to the Toon.

I rate Ramos and Jol.

Ramos doesn't know how to manage in the Premier Leauge. He was with us for a whole year, and didn't learn English. He sent every player that he deemed "not good enough" to train with the reserves and stripped them of their squad numbers (hows that for man-management?). I am willing to believe that he is a good manager in La Liga, but he didn't cut it over here.

Does he not have a better record with Spurs than Redknapp?

I don't have the stats to hand, but I think it's similar. The difference is that when we had Ramos the only postive thing you could usually say about us was "well, they don't get as tired as they used to."

Good point, thought the same. And when he actually tried to speak English it sounded like Mandarin Chinese.

He did some great work at Sevilla and is doing a decent job at Real atm, but he should not return to England and he should know that.

At least we look like we can win games (wish we'd actually do that a bit more, though). Under Ramos, we always looked like losing pretty much every game.

Buy a couple of strong or at least one defensive midfielder ffs!! :D
