From Mark Douglas (The Journal) Twitter

"No new #nufc kit today, according to club officials at Chris Hughton's press conference... Some time next week. "

I am sorry to announce that today's kit photo shoot has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

The recent travel issues resulting from the Icelandic volcano have caused serious logistical problems with the organisation of this launch and Newcastle United has been unable to make alternative arrangements at such short notice and at present there are no plans to reschedule this.

I would like to thank all of you that volunteered to take part in this launch and I am sorry for any disappointment caused as a result of this announcement.

Seriously man, how many other clubs have failed to stick to their intended launch date this week? Preston for example. What a fucking shambles.... :icon_lol:

Ipswich Town have failed too because of the volcanic ash delaying air transit.

They also don’t have a clue when they’ll turn up, Ipswich Town’s retail manager:

"The shirts had been cleared by customs for air freight but with the planes grounded because of the volcanic ash, it's not been possible to get them on a flight.

"The suppliers looked at alternative transport but have been told they have to wait until a flight becomes available, which means the shirts won't be with us this week.

"We will publish details of when the pre-order shirts are available for collection as soon as we have them."

blaming the wrong ‘ash’ lads, methinks.

United To Wear adidas For Final Time @ SJP

SATURDAY'S game against Ipswich Town will see Newcastle United wear adidas kit for the final time at St.James' Park.

The Club would like to thank adidas for their support during the past 15 years as technical partner.

That period has seen some iconic kits worn by some of United's all-time favourite players.

Few will ever forget the 1995/96 campaign in which the likes of David Ginola, Les Ferdinand and Peter Beardsley donned the famous grandad-collar shirts as they came agonisingly close to lifting the Premiership title.

Sir Bobby Robson's Champions League side of 2002/03, including stars such as Alan Shearer, Gary Speed and Nobby Solano, enjoyed many memorable European nights in their v-neck design.

And this year's current vintage of players will take their place in black-and-white history wearing Adidas kit en route to the Championship title.

The Club would once again like to state their appreciation for the support of adidas over the years and wish them all the very best for the future.

I'm shocked adidas didn't try and make a few more quid out of their contract by re-making these.

Liverpool/adidas sell the 'classic' Candy jersey with the diamond design through it in club shops.

I've got a match-worn Beardo one which was the adidas 'denim' looking away top with the V-neck which is canny nice. I've also got a one Batty wore in a match which was the not so nice (the team weren't as good either) round neck which came directly after the 'Grandad shirt' one iirc.

There's another Stevie exclusive which will knock your socks off coming on Monday.

Our away kit is going to be skins?

All black with silver trim, and a printed red armband with a white circle on it and some new club symbol in it.
