Asset stripping

Definition

The practice of acquiring a business, then selling it's most valuable assets, in the hope that the cash realised from these sales will match the entire acquisition cost, meaning that the asset stripper is left with the remaining parts at nil cost.

think mikes knocked the buy em young transfer policy on the head :nufc:

After signing defender Andrea Raggi from Palermo and striker Giampolo Pazzini from Fiorentina this winter, the Blucerchiati have moved to secure young talents for their future, according to Datasport.

Sampdoria have snapped up highly regarded Roberto Soriano, a midfielder born in 1991, from Bayern Munich.

The side coached by Walter Mazzarri have also acquired Italian teenage sensation Fabio Zamblera, who was at Newcastle United and was born in 1990. Zamblera is a member of Italy's under-19 squad.

It appears that Sampdoria sporting director and transfer guru Giuseppe Marotta is looking to the future of the club, as Samp look to improve their lacklustre season and subsequent campaigns by adding new and enthusiastic young talent.

Sampdoria came in an impressive sixth place last season, but have not been able to replicate that type of form during the 2008-09 campaign. The club currently sit just six points above the relegation zone.

Probably - was that him Liverpool were going to sign or was that Simao?

Seen one cheating winger, seen them all.

Liverpool were after Simao. Conceicao played for Lazio, went to Inter then went back to Lazio. He was a good player at Lazio 1st time round. I think he played againt us for Inter back then in the CL.

I've just remembered.

What ever happened to the 2 'expensive' loan signings that we'd apparantly agreed? Actually, I don't know why i'm asking, we all know JFK talks absolute fucking bollocks.

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has revealed Newcastle United made a 'cheeky enquiry' for Kieran Richardson.

Sbragia's Newcastle counterpart Joe Kinnear endured a mixed transfer window as, despite bringing in Kevin Nolan and Ryan Taylor, he missed out on several targets.

Richardson was one of the players Kinnear tried to sign, but Sbragia admits the approach from Sunderland's North East rivals was given short shrift.

"There was a cheeky enquiry, but it was never any more than that," Sbragia told the Sunderland Echo.

"To be honest, we've had quite a few cheeky enquiries over the months that never got anywhere near getting off the ground and that was one of them.

"Clubs are entitled to try it on if they want to, but I've made it clear that I want to keep my very best players at the club."

England cap Richardson joined Sunderland from Manchester United in 2007 and is a key part of the Black Cats' midfield.

He also etched his name into Sunderland folklore by firing home a stunning free-kick to secure a 2-1 win over Newcastle at the Stadium of Light in November to clinch the club's first home victory over their local foes in almost 30 years.

He's only been here for 4 windows man! :nufc:

 Hes made enough money from previous windows to cover the 5th one and still gain a profit.

The bastard :nufc:

Not quite. He spent in the first 2 windows and was almost £20 million down at one point in the summer. He's up on the last 2 windows enough to just be in profit overall.

It's quite interesting (in the loosest sense) to compare it with Shepherds corresponding first 32 deals as chairman....

shepherdzw4.jpg

Almost the exact opposite of Ashley...but not in the way you'd have thought. Almost always in profit and only just getting some debt going later.

Of course, Keegan walked out on Shepherd because of it didn't he.

Wonder why Shepherd survived it but Ashley doesn't seem able to.

"Newcastle has set up an extensive scouting system". Yes that worked just brilliantly didn't it, ringing around the club's for a midfielder and having Steven Taylor tell the manager that Taylor was available.

I was talking to my mate today as well, who is Michael Johnson's agent, and as far as he is aware there was no bid for him so sounds like more bullshit from the club. Johnson isn't even running yet never mind in full training with his groin/pelvic problem."
