To put it into the context though, Rooney will play for 15 years in a team which will be a either winner or runner up in the Prem, creating half a million chances per game. Shearer played in one Premiership winning team (which was largely down to him anyway) and then the bulk of his career in very average teams. Shearer's record will always be greater.
