Scottish Mag 3
SAM ALLARDYCE is targeting Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan as Newcastle’s big January signing. Newcastle boss Allardyce is set to move for his former Reebok Stadium skipper amid doubts over the futures of Emre and Joey Barton at St James’s Park. And with Nolan under fire from a section of Bolton’s support after a lengthy run of poor form, the Trotters are now prepared to do business. The 25-year-old rose to prominence and the verge of the full England squad under Allardyce, but has not been at his best over the last 12 months. Matters came to a head in midweek when Nolan’s substitution during Bolton’s victory over Derby drew ironic cheers from home fans. But Allardyce remains convinced of Nolan’s ability, with the Scouser’s eye for goal a particular attraction. It may be that Nolan – who is understood to share the same agent as Allardyce – could replace Emre, who is unsettled and in demand, according to his agent. Galatasaray have been keeping tabs on Emre, and his agent Ahmet Bulut said yesterday: “There are a lot of clubs interested but they have to speak to Newcastle. “He (Emre) is not happy because he is not playing.”

toontoasey 0
Why on earth would we want to buy someone who is on a recent run of poor form and is being booed by the fans??, oh hang on he should fit in brilliantly then, lets get him!!!
Deano 0
To be fair he's a decent player and would probably do well hea, if emre was to go tho id hope wed have a little bit more about us to go for arshavin instead, though nolan wouldnt be a bad signing imo. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
At his best he was a poor mans Gerrard. But that was two years ago. Form had been so bad he's been booed by his own supporters. Didn't he fall out with Sam anyway?
Isegrim 10005
Shit or not, he's foremost a type of player we don't need as we are already well stocked with uncreative grafters.
JawD 99
From the game today "Newcastle need an improvement in the creativity from the centre". ML - "they need improvement everywhere". We dont need him. Add him to the pile with Barton, Geremi, Smith. All very average players, very one dimensional.

luckyluke 2
This transfer flies in the face of logic, so I suspect Jimbo is correct. Sigh.

The Fish 11063
no quote, no evidence from either side, not even a misleading Agent quote to go off and you're already complaining about a transfer that has not a scrap of substantiated evidence. priceless
JawD 99
They seem upset about it The rumours that surround the transfer window are seriously irritating. They usually involve your favourite players being linked with other clubs. Just occasionally they give you hope and this is the case with Kevin Nolan. It`s been reported over the weekend that Sam Allardyce is set to make a bid for the midfield chubster. Opinions on Nolan are divided. Some fans have been laying wreaths at the door of the De Vere Whites Hotel, to commemorate his hostile treatment from large sections of the crowd in last week`s game against Derby. Others have offered to drive him to Tyneside, which presumably explains this morning`s traffic jam at the Reebok. We`re firmly in the driver camp. Nolan can`t pass or tackle and spends most of the time loitering on the six yard line, tripping over the ball when given chances that a five-year old would put away. His absence from the midfield position that he`s supposed to occupy has been a major weakness in Bolton`s play for at least a year. He sounds like just the man for Newcastle. Kid Dynamite 7308
Im all for giving sam 'time' to show us what he can do. But if he is going to systematically destroy our squad and fill it with so much shit that our next manager hasnt a hope in hell of doing anything with it, im vehemently against him staying! With the midfield we have the last player in the whole fucking leage we should be signing is Nolan. You just know hes going to sign some big immobile centre forward next too. Even Bolton had Djorkaeff and Okocha, hes takign the fucking piss out of us now!
