Kid Dynamite 7356
Had a fit on Saturday night and now wont record anything!? Its not insured but its only 6 months old so surely its under some sort of statutory guarantee? Anyone had similar experiences?
Kid Dynamite 7356
Wont live pause or rewind or anything now. Somethings obviously fried inside
Meenzer 15911
I think the standard Sky guarantee is a year, or at least it was when we got it a few years back. (Naturally, the LNB gave out approximately 15 months later...) Give them a call.
Happy Face 29
Have you tried turning it off, waiting 5 minutes and turning it on again? My mother always thinks I'm a genius when I do that for her.

Meenzer 15911
There's a forced software download you can do by turning it off then holding down the "back up" button (on the box, not the remote) for a while when you turn it back on, but that's for a regular old Sky box, don't know how it works for Sky+ or whatever. That sometimes works, anyway. Edited January 19, 2009 by Meenzer
JawD 99
It is irritatingly regular that switching off, waiting a few mins, and back on again clears many problems with them. Either way, you do get 1yr warranty on the box and they will just swap it (usually) if faulty.

Jimbo 175
Mine threw a hissy-fit the other week, I left it overnight disconnected from the mains and it was fine in the morning, but I have had a hard-drive fuck up on my SKY+, although I fixed this by replacing it, a good move as I slapped in a 250gig drive which gives me 125 hours of recording instead of 40 ! ChezGiven 0
I'm toying with the idea of having Sky installed here in France. Had the tecnhician out to visit my place to see if it is feasible and its all good. I got the quote through and for the sky box, a square dish, cables, accessories, 1 year payment so that the french company maintains the account for you with Sky (uk address etc) and for the installation, its 1043 euros. Its 61 euros a months for the Sports package after that. Am i being a mug price wise? How much would a similar set up cost in the UK including all the above? Obviously its going to be much more expensive but is this a rip-off?

Also, it might be an idea to see if you can get an Irish Sky package which will give you Saturday 3pm games on Setanta and you'll get the Irish 'MoTD' earlier in the evening. When i lived out in Germany we had sky digital when it first came out. Shop around you always find a Brit who will come do the job for ya. We paid 50 marks ( 15 quid ) for this guy to install ours. Still got to buy the box and the dish though right? The big items on the quote are Square dish - 255 euros Digibox - 219 Installation fee - 184 Annual account fee - 150 Do you pay for the dish and the box in the UK when you get it installed? I dont have a UK address and sorting one out via the address would be monumental hassle.
