stevietoon 0
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...le_Kinnear.html Joe Kinnear has blamed Newcastle's plight on his predecessors and claims he is sick of "carrying the can". The Magpies' season hit a new low on Saturday when they lost 3-0 to Blackburn, managed by former Toon boss Sam Allardyce, leaving them only two points clear of the relegation zone. Kinnear, who took over at St James' Park following Kevin Keegan's resignation in September, has a contract until the end of the season but has come under pressure from disgruntled fans. However, he feels the squad was not up to scratch when he arrived. "I've inherited this," Kinnear said. "They are not my players, everybody has forgotten that. "But our biggest problem is a lack of strength in depth. Why wasn't it addressed by the last manager (Keegan) or the manager before him (Allardyce)? "I am carrying the can for it. It is as simple as that." Kinnear, who claimed this week he has been offered a "lucrative" contract to stay at the helm past the end of the season, is optimistic owner Mike Ashley will provide money to strengthen the squad. "I have spelled out the gravity of the situation," Kinnear continued. "I say, 'We're not prepared for anything like the disaster we face and you've got to realise the importance of that'. "I want to be judged on what I bring in. The depth of the first-team squad is not right at the moment. "We must look to stay up this season and have a big clear-out in the summer and address everything completely differently." Kinnear admits he is worried the Magpies could be playing in the Coca-Cola Championship next season. He added: "I lie in bed and worry and dread this situation. I'm a proud fella and I don't want to be relegated."

Holden McGroin 6783
To be fair to him he has a point. Should keep his mouth shut though. He cant be expected to work miracles with (loads of) players wanting to leave, no strength in depth, turmoil up above etc etc etc
JawD 99
What a fucking idiot. Thats what KK was saying from the start, and the fans, and about every pundit. The squads been too small for ages.

He cant be expected to work miracles with (loads of) players wanting to leave, no strength in depth, turmoil up above etc etc etc If he hasnt grasped the reality of his position by now he never will Im pretty sure KK asked for players in a number of positions, and the resulting buys by Wise were the very reason he walked out. So JFK cant really lay the blame at his door, he needs to be looking at the people who pay him!

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
The worst comment he's come out with so far tbh. There is some serious competition in that field. Some (most) of the stuff he has come out with has been ridiculous or down right lies. No point in listening to him really, he'll say anything. Like an attention seeking child. Happy Face 29
Can't see why Kinnear's getting any stick for this. Seems like a backhanded dig at the owner. Why's he only mentioned that it wasn't addressed by the last 2 managers? He's totally highlighting that the owners are shit. And he's only repeating what we've all been saying. By the way, with regard to squad depth, has anyone ever seen the back of a program where our squad had less people in it than the opposition? The problem isn't numbers, it's quality. 50% of our squad are under 20 and have hardly played a top flight game.

The players already look like they couldn't give a fuck out on the pitch, and I doubt Kinnear saying "they're not my players" will suddenly get them playing for him.
