Scottish Mag 3
I keep reading and have even said it myself that I reckon there may be 3 teams worse off than us, but seriously is there any truth in that? We are a shambles both on and off the park and regardless what any threads on here say a manager who is fucking clueless. There was a reason why he had been out of the game for so long.. Squad wise we are a shambles with it consisting of players wanted/wanting away (Given, Barton, Owen, N'Zogbia) and has-beens who are past it (Geremi, Viduka, Butt, Duff etc). We and others outside the area look at our squad and reckon we are probably too good to go down, but based on what? The players are not half as good as some of our support think and a midfield of N'Zogbia, Butt, Guthrie and Duff is arguably one of the worst in the league bar possibly Stoke but they have a handicap of having Amdy Faye. Results wise I just have no clue where these points that will keep us up are coming from. We are shockingly bad away from home and at home we have been a joke. The odd decent result against the likes of Villa, Man City and Spurs count for fuck all when you look at the reality of the teams we are fighting against at the bottom have given us a game every time. We have been beat by Hull and Blackburn and drawn with dross like West Brom, Stoke, Wigan and West Ham. Yes we beat West Brom but we nearly even threw that away. With Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal still to come to St James Park we can right those games off, and the Mackem and Smoggies match could go either way with whats at stake. What does that leave us as its hard to think we can get anything on the road? Pompey and Fulham? Heres hoping by the time we come to the last few games of the season there has actually been big changes in whats going on at the club and in our fortunes/points total as I do not fancy having a releagtion scrap with Boro or Fulham in our final two home matches and if things remain the way they are at the top of the table Villa away is a howler of a last game fixture. I have tried to remain optimistic as of late and had convinced myself that Ashley wa sgoing to invest this transfer window. Its no longer a case of hoping he does rather than praying he does as this is not looking good at all....
snakehips 0
I said a while ago that it would be this season or next that we will get relegated; it now looks like this will be the one. I wonder if we will actually get another point this season (watching the great unwashed turn us over at SJP will be extremely painful).
Paul 0
If we don't go down this year (I think we'll stay up but only just), I think we're almost certs to be relegated next year
Scottish Mag 3
Too good? Jonas aside, we have one of the worst midfields in the league... As others have said depending who the Mackems bring in, and if Blackburn make a change that could give them both the short term buzz to go on a small run and pick up a few points. What could end up a problem for us is that in recent years we have got rid of a manager when in these kind of positions and the club has went on a run of games when a new man has come in. With Kinnear already being this seasons "replacement" I doubt we will get that mix up that has really saved our season under the likes of Roeder and Keegan. Whilst it would be crazy to appoint someone for this reason alone, I can only see the appointment of the likes of Shearer taking the reigns and the hysteria that would surround it be enough for us to go on any kind of decent run to get the points we need so badly. I still think if we keep JFK in place it could be the biggest difference (and not in a good way) between this season and others when we have looked in trouble... Gemmill 44098
todays match thread sums it upwhen your worried about other peoples results and thankful they lose, your in serious fcking danger Aye, cos we can enjoy seeing the mackems get beat today but I honestly think they're a favourite over us at SJP in a few weeks, simply because they don't look like a buckled wheel in the same way we do. The problem with relying on other teams is that you need to do at least SOME of the work yourself, and today was yet another in a LONG line of must win games that we've failed to win. JawD 99
We can stay up yes, but their ignorance of the plight of the squad could well be a nail in our coffin. This, as well as trying to spend as little as nothing on players so the quality of who comes in is only really stop gaps. If that. I think each week that goes by with our current policies sees us increase in chance of dropping.

Snake 0
We'll be ok, there's two 3 million bids going in for top players/ 2 international experienced loanees/ 2 tall or short, fat or thin, fast or slow/ my first is in 'liar' but not in 'bullshit' players on their way here
Jimbo 172
We are following the blueprint for relegation, if we don't go down this season then we will next.

peasepud 59
I still think if we keep JFK in place it could be the biggest difference (and not in a good way) between this season and others when we have looked in trouble... I agree but I honestly cannot see us managing to attract anyone with the proven ability to keep us up, sacking JFK would be the final deathtoll of this clubs season unless we have a replacement sitting there ready, we'd go back to Hughton again, players wouldnt know whether they were coming or going and any chance of a cohesive plan would be shot to shit. Although there is one serious alternative and that would be to remove JFK and sit Dennis Wise in the hotseat, we all know its him fucking this club up from top to bottom, we already have numerous quotes etc that hint at him being the one making team selection so could we do any worse than having him stood on the touchline? Maybe just maybe his team talks will be better than JFK's. It would certainly make home games a bit more atmospheric.

justin sane 0
After that March run of fixtures i expect the confidence to be so low that we will have trouble picking up points from the next few games.Lets hope we have some fit fullbacks then or we are fucked. KingKev 0
What I fear is that we're not save after 35 or 36 games. I wonder whether I could survive that...

Tom 14011
I would be amazed if we stay up this season but I was the same last season at one point. Something has to change, waiting for relegation is pointless.
