Scottish Mag 3
I know alot of it is based on speculation but if the news sources are correct in alot of their reports just who does want to remain at the club? The club seemingly wants to offload the likes of Xisco, Cacapa and Enrique. Geremi, N'Zogbia and Given supposedly want away. Butt and Harper are yet to sign new contracts and it looks like Viduka and Owen will be off at the end of the season. Barton and Smith are wanted by Portsmouth and Everton Martins may not have said he wants away yet but today there are reports today of his agent slagging the club off. We have no permanent manager and an owner who wanted to get rid of the club so question marks over how committed he is to the cause. We have over the last few years looked like we were in danger of going down etc, but is this the most worrying time we have had since we returned to the top flight? The worst thing is that other than Given and Owen, none of the other players are good enough to be worried about losing in normal circumstances, yet it's still a concern given our squad. That's how you can tell things are really bad.
Guest alex
To be fair to Oba, he'd be daft (which he obviously is, but you know what I mean) not to want to get away.
Jimbo 175
It is very worrying, in my opinion the apparent lack of commitment by Ashley in terms of player investment and the lack of a credible full time manager suggests to me that Ashley is treading-water until the end of the season, when hopefully the club still has Premier League status and can be sold once our short term future on the pitch is confirmed. Then hopefully a buyer will come in from the shadows and make an offer for the club, but with the credit crunch situation this is becoming more and more unlikely, until then we are stuck with Ashley and co. Depressing times indeed.

Papa Lazaru 0
It really is bad, the club is in such a mess that you can't blame any half decent player here if they want to leave for a more stable club or one where they have some idea what will be happening in the near future! If Ashley does fuck all in January which is looking to be the case, then come the end of the season, even if we've stayed up, the better players will still want to leave if they haven't already as the club has clearly got no ambition anymore. As people have said, its the most depressing its been for many a year. Fat Fred may well have taken us from a top 6 club who could have challenged the "big 4" (at least on occasion) to a midtable nonentity (at best), but i'd take him back over Ashley and what he's doing! AmericanMag 0
Could someone explain the timing in regards to a new owner for the club? If a buyer does come out of the shadows interested in buying the club... when would he/they do it? As soon as the season is over? Would that be enough time to go through the process of buying the club, establishing the setup, and getting some transfers in before the next season? Or will the buyer have to show their interest before the end of the season when the status of the club has not been determined? And if that were to be the case, would anyone do that? That's what worries me. We can't afford to not invest heavily next summer imo. I've been saying for a while that while we could go this season, I think we'll actually be ok, whereas I really fear for our premier league status come the end of next season. You've got Viduka and Owen away for a start plus the likes of Given possibly leaving and they'll be hard to replace (Owen and Given especially) and then you have to get more bodies in on top of that (and on top of whoever else may leave). I don't trust the old regime to do it and even with the best will in the world any new owner(s) will find it tough going given the time constraints. A new owner could buy the club in a week if all parties involved wanted it to go through that quickly but anyone interested will now wait to see if we stay up

Looking around various other boards and also speaking to people away from the internet it seems that most people don't trust him at all but unfortunately apathy is setting in and people are resigning themselves to the inevitable
