Magpies join Stoke, Everton and Spurs in race to sign Cardiff midfielder Ledley

Ledley's a decent young player, he usually plays out on the left but Cardiff have played him in the centre lately, he's not what you would call creative but he's got a good engine and likes to break forward, they turned down a bid for him in the Summer of £6 million but I don't think it would take much more than that to get him.

In all honesty, I think he's probably better in the middle than out wide. Either way, I wouldn't say he's not creative - he's got very good vision for a Championship player, he's just not much of a flair player. He'd be a useful player in a side that needs a midfield like Newcastle do, and definitely a Premiership standard player, but not a top half one.

You've obviously not watched much of Shola over the past 10 years then have you.

I don't want to spend the money on a position we don't (desperately) need help in on a mediocre player, which is what Doyle is. We have Shola, he's actually having a decent season so far, there's certainly no need to be spending money on another striker unless they are of significant quality.

(Of course, this statement assumes we won't sell anyone. If we do, we'll of course need replacements, although I still think we can do better.)
