Jay Jay Sea 0
Day 2 of being in the office and it's dead and again there's not a soul in. Proper boring. No birds to have a bit of craic with, in fact, no blokes either. Not even the office cleaner lurking around the toilets which is unusual. I think i've dropped a clanger coming in today. What a waste of a fcking life. There should be a room that one get get some sleep in or something. When it gets this quiet, a chap starts to gaze out of the window and evil thoughts of masturbation begin to filter through causing a slight uncomfortableness around the y-front region. It's so very gray outdoors I see. I reckon loads of people who are off today are probably in their nice warm pit, with their partner, fcking like wild monkeys. Or alternativley, some wild man is round my house right now fcking my missus whilst i'm here wasting away another day of my life.

TheMoog 0
Aye, you're not alone bud, I'm in today, tomorrow and Friday. The office is dead, about 2-3 people in each team (which probably amounts to about 12 people in the entire two floors of the building). My department's flatter than a witch's tit, nothing going on and it's only getting worse.

trophyshy 7066
there's only about 40 people in the whole building, normally about 200. no hope to contact with any other people, no hope of making any significant progress but here we are. might have a liquid lunch and go home early. no-one will care. anyone fancy it? Seems to me chap that a liquid lunch is the only viable option. Even that option is less appealing now than at any other time in the calendar year. Feels like I have been drinking none stop. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Saturday afternoon/night, Sunday (12-10) and yesterday (after work, 4-9, hair of the dog to get over hangover). Today I have a cold, so Jack Daniel's would seem like a good choice. The 1st drink is always the toughest I think. That's it, sold, I'm fckin off at 12 bells

I just don't feel like I'm doing anything useful - as soon as the patients get quite ill it's just assumed that "this is their time" and we stop everything. It's very frustrating. Aye that's a different issue, assisted suicide is illegal, yet it's effectively done in a low tech way in most hospitals every day.

No. Not treating a chest infection with antibiotics in a frail, deteriorating patient is not 'assisted suicide'. I suppose you could classify deliberately increasing a patients' dose of morphine, so that they become opiate toxic and go into respiratory arrest, like that. But we don't do that. It is (although I can see why people won't want to think of it that way - although I suppose you could make a case for it being manslaughter). As is terminal dehydration etc. It's one of the things that always puzzles me, that effective euthanasia (official or not ) will sometimes be given to terminal patients (and rightly so, it's usually the kindest thing to do), yet equally in other situations they'll just let someone drag on for days and even weeks knowing they are going to die simply from the withdrawal of treatment. manc-mag 1
How can it be 'assisted suicide' if, for instance, the patient doesn't intentionally want to end their own life?
Fop 1
How can it be 'assisted suicide' if, for instance, the patient doesn't intentionally want to end their own life? Hence the argument for effective manslaughter in some cases. Although the real issue is really the whole doing it but pretending not to hypocrisy. There is a clear distinction between not providing treatment that might prolong somebody's life, and direct intervention (such as deliberate overdosing or poisoning) to end someone's life. The latter could be termed as euthanasia, or assisted suicide. There is a big, big difference between allowing someone to die and killing them. The bit in bold is completely untrue. In this country anyway.
