LeazesMag 0
Yes that will be asset stripping but at this moment in time its purely speculation and opinion. I just do not see the point in calling him everything under the sun and making claims about what he will or won't do when in truth we have no idea.. Yeah no bother, Im sure that in this business he will be different to how hes ran all of his other businesses, Im sure that his personal fortune dropping ridiculously and his heavy gambling losses will make him release funds. Im also sure that black is white and Baggio is not a wanker. Nice to see NUSC lose their last bit of credibility by claiming Ashley only decided to announce he's staying to spoil Sir Bobby day btw, Peasepud. If yesterday was the best NUSC could come up with then good luck with getting people to renew their membership. instead of slating the NUSC, why don;t you start a "back Mike Ashley" campaign or a "Ashley is right to stick to his DOF bollocks". What a fuckin moron you are lad.
Jimbo 175
Beardsley may be a legend on the pitch but some of his opinions have been suspect in the past to say the least, I can't remember names but I recall rolling my eyes at several managerial recommendations he has made in the past when interviewed. Do we have a case rested smilie? please feel free to show me anywhere that the NUSC have claimed that though. It was read out on Sky Sports, plenty of people on N-O who heard it and have been talking about it. I know you don't like going in that thread on there because you can't handle any sort of criticism direct NUSC's way but perhaps you should. It was read out? as an official statement of the NUSC? because the official statement to SSN was via our spokesman Michael Ord who was interviewed at 9am yesterday live. He clearly did not say that Ashley had only said it to scupper SBR day. And I know this for a fact. Anyone who would believe that a football club owner would decide not to sell a club he had for sale because he wanted to piss on someones chips would be a total fool. If you arsed yourself to read up on half the stuff that you claim to know about you'd find that you were talking shite as usual. And I can and have taken criticism of the NUSC, as has been proven by the numerous posts Ive made in that thread, the fact that I choose to spend my time somewhere else promoting the NUSC is a simple fact of life. Ive given up on N-O being somewhere thats worthwhile promoting it as a number of people there are determined to see it fail. No problem, theres a hundred other places it can be promoted and its better to spend my time on those. Plus they have a resident member on there so I'll let him talk to them. As much as you want this to fail, the proof is in the pudding, regardless of the fact its been going less than 4 months and that it charges a membership fee, this is the Newcastle supporters group with the highest number of members (a number that the FSF see as quite remarkable considering the short amount of time its been going), This is the group that the media (including SSN) are coming to first for comment and this is the ONLY group (that I know of) that actively canvasses the members views on subjects and that you can trust those results from. Yes that canvassing has only recently started but the fact that it has, and will be regularly is testament enough.
LeazesMag 0
"Mike has to be praised for the fact he has put the club on a sound financial footing. Again that has gone from: Debt is paid off. To some debt maybe paid off. To debt serviced. I suspect there's a big hairy monster of debt hiding somewhere in the clubs accounts. Another 3 years of £0 transfer windows and I'll be amazed if we're not in the Champions League. of course, thats how to do it. Its how everyone does it. Rest assured that Denis and his boys will capture the signings of all the best youngsters in the country and in europe, who will all sign for Denis and his club which will be fighting a relegation or a promotion battle, instead of Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger etc. What a stroke of genius. what a "plan", why didn't someone else think of it

Incidentally re your above comments and the ones directed at Peasepud, how many posters on NO [and other message boards] are actually regular and long term supporters of the club that live in the city. Especially pleasing is the fact that you think I give a flying fuck what a 12 year old kid living in Singapore thinks about what I have said [correctly] about the club and its history over the last 50 years. Deano 0
This is NOT the worst thing to happen, i personally feel although the timing was shocking, with all things considered it is the best thing for us at this moment in time. We will all read into the statement from a different angle but mine is this. He accepts the fact it is highly unlikely he will find a buyer so retracts his wish to sell. He will give JFK money to balance the squad (3-4 players) Move heaven and earth to get MO to sign a new contract, the others i would let go at end of season (Harper, Butt and Ameobi) I just hope that even if he does not come out and say "I'v fucked up in the past and im a changed man" he deep down realises that his original plan didnt work so he needs to rethink his strategies. This could work out in our favour, only time will tell.
Guest alex
Don't have particularly strong views about the annoucement as I thought it was inevitable. Ashley has to put his money where his mouth is over the next 12 months though because the squad is just nowhere near good enough.

If I had a car for sale and couldnt seem to sell it no matter how many adverts I had in Autotrader then Id stop advertising it. If however someone came along and offered me the right money for it then Id sell. All I believe MA has done is stop throwing money Keith Harris's way. If he really was committed to the club in the way he says he is then I think he would have made a clear statement that money would be available in the transfer market, to me he did the opposite by stating it would continue to be ran as it had been. I heard it yesterday about 10.30 but it was being repeated by the SSN presenter rather than by anyone live, they said NUSC feel that it was announced to spoil the Bobby One Banner day and is the worst possible late Christmas present. Tom himself says that he's heard bits throughout the day about what had been said, as did others who watched it and have been discussing it on N-O, of course it must be all bollocks and we're only saying it to bring the good name of NUSC down. As for NUSC being the first one the media go to, that's hardly a major achievement when the only other bloke they speak to is Steve Wraith and even he doesn't come out with as much embarrassing bollocks as you lot do, which I wouldn't have thought possible 6 months ago. Still, you stay on here where everyone licks your arse and thinks your countdown clock is great if it makes you comfortable.

Guest alex
For me, it's more about hanging onto what we have in January. We could still do with some bodies in but I'd be happy with 2-3 (good) loan signings if Owen etc. stayed. That aside, what worries me is come the summer - who exactly do we have scouting for us now? The Spanish connection is gone iirc, so that leaves us with Dirty Den and JFK. Woo-hoo!

Are you going to delete this post like the last one? As for Fop's question, I don't know what he's going to spend and i don't really care either as long as he brings in another player or two of the quality of Bassong, Jonas and Coloccini, but then again I'm more interested in the quality of player rather than being appeased by spending money. I do understand that it is harder to bring players in in Janaury though.

Its not going to be that hard for Man City and Arsenal however if the papers are to be believed.
