There's already a pretty comprehensive thread on favourite albums. Or are you after specific "tracks", daddy-o?

Singles, dear boy, singles

Could never get my head around these new fangled Long Playing records - they sound s*** when played at 45 rpm as well

Singles are ABSOLUTE TEST of an artiste .............. 3-7 minutes to show what you can do (or not as so much of 2008 shows)

NME voted MGMT album of the year and their song 'Kids' song of the year.

I'd probably say Foals with album of the year.

But to think of it, there's not alot to chose from compared to other years in my opinion.

I've just downloaded Buckley's version of Hallelujah (I already own it on God knows how many CDs) in the hope it'll get into the top 5 and show up that slag from X Factor. If, I can count it, it's my record of the year.

It'll be #2 tomorrow apparently. Outsold 5:1 though. Ho hum.

I'll be chuffed if it gets to number 2, it's a huge achievement. It will have restored my faith in the general public to some extent.

I'm still going to hunt down and kill Simon Cowell though.

Doesn't Cowell (or his record company) own the rights to whichever version you buy?

What happened to the good old days when the charts actually stood for something artistically profound.

Stuff like Grandad with him off of Dads Army or Shadapayaface the borderline racist classic. Even in those halcyon years though, the charts had lost some of the purity of the fifties when I Taut I Taw A Puddy Tat by Tweetie Pie was a beacon of quality pop music.

You didn't need organised movements in them days. EVERYTHING was great because the record buying public were a more discerning breed.

Of course Itunes and the record companies don't give a fuck what you buy as long as you buy something and this is perfect for them to bring in the cynical generation x download market that don't ever buy downloads on this sort of principle. Suckered.

Is it me, or does there seem to be an awful fuss made about really trivial matters quite often lately? Ross & Brand, John Sergant, and now this.

This sort of shit is making 'proper' news, not just the front of The Sun. I mean, I love the Buckley version, but really, in the grand scheme of things, who gives a fuck?
