FaustinoSaspirella 0
Job losses as fudge firm closes Sales been hit by the downturn A Devon fudge maker has shut, with the possible loss of 69 jobs, after a slump in sales. Bristows, which has been run by the same family for three generations, since 1932, is one of Crediton's biggest employers. The firm blamed poor weather in the summer and the economic downturn. It has also been hit with increased levies to the pension protection fund. Receivers are confident the firm can be sold and some employees retained. Receiver Andrew Sheridan said staff had been paid up until four days ago. They will now have to submit claims to the government for unpaid wages and pay in lieu of their notice periods, which could take several months. Frank Bristow, who has run the company, could not be contacted for comment. Not what you all thought
