Brings back memories of the old 'continuity' days when they used to show London to Brighton in 3 mins...

Always used to love that. I also remember seeing a programme when they showed a Tornado doing the entire coastline of Britain which was then speeded up so the whole thing was done in 10 mins or something like that.

German TV still shows "interesting train journeys" in the middle of the night (or at least it did when I was living there). In real time, no less. Burma was a particular favourite, for some reason, even though the trains travel at a crawl and they'd only show 30 minutes or so a night.

 

And there's some travel channel up in the mid-200s on Sky that has a regular feature called "Swiss Railway Journeys". Never was a title more promising.

Except they minimise the picture and warp to light speed when they reach the NE coast (13 mins 14 secs)! :aye:
