I laughed when i read the People this morning :yes Gallas and Gudjohnsen??? only in our dreams.

Well Ranieri was on Goals on Sunday this morning saying he wants a move back into English football, and is just waiting for the right offer.

A bad result next week, and he might not have too much longer to wait...and then it's not as dreamy a prospect of seeing them here.

The thought of that gibbon in charge of Newcastle is hardly an inspiring step in the right direction though is it? One for the "anything's better than Souness" crew IMO.

While Ranieri wouldn't be my first choice, I honestly believe he would do well here and be a massive improvement on Souness.

Well, I do think it would not be a good decision to replace a muppet with a clown... on the other hand I am firmly in the anything must be better than Souness camp.

I don't think it's too fair to label Ranieri a clown, thought he did a reasonable job at Chelsea. I do think Souness has lowered standards though, I reckon I'd cry for joy if we got O'Leary in. Just over 12 months ago that thought was not a pleasant one.

Its true, he has made numerous managers now look like a good option!

At the time we went for Allardyce and O'Leary i'd have been happy with either and that still stands if Fat Fred isn't going to go for europes top coaches.

But ultimately i think he plans to let Souness see out this season if its not disasterous and then bring in Shearer, or if it is disasterous then probably sack him and bring in Shearer. Should it somehow go well then he'll be here for another season...and then it'll be Shearer!

I'd replace reasonable with ordinary. With what he had available, he wasn't expected to achieve anything less than what he did, but that was far from being a good job. If he wasn't such a nice bloke, nobody would consider him on his merits at Chelsea (IMHO).

lets get that german bloke off goal! he doesnt take any shit, when gavin harris was having a shocker he hauled him straight off and gave that young un santiago a go and he turned out to be class! i couldnt see souness doing that!

Agreed. He's also a Serbian war criminal wanted by the UN, he'll sort us out!

I thought he was doing a decent job for them before Abramovich turned up, with a very thin squad. He also very quickly reduced the average age of the squad, on a small budget and got results. His team played attractive football and he signed good players and developed others very well.

I'm under the impression his record in Italy and Spain leaves alot to be desired but I don't know anything about that so I can't comment.

Haven't a baldy. The last time I said I thought he was decent someone said he had a shite record abroad. Which of course I couldn't argue as I know nothing about 'foreign' football nowadays. If what you say is true then that would seem quite good.

This makes interesting reading.

I'm pretty sure he was manager for the first of their two consecutive CL Finals. I would have to look it up to check, and i can't be arsed :yes
