Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Middle English equates to illiterate modern day teenager:

Whilom, as olde stories tellen us,

Ther was a duc that highte Theseus;

Of Atthenes he was lord and governour,

And in his tyme swich a conquerour,

That gretter was ther noon under the sonne.

Ful many a riche contree hadde he wonne,

What with his wysdom and his chivalrie;

And the tales themselves are fucking crap.

Did the prologue for 'O' level - anyone who claims its literature should be fucking shot - emperor's new clothes syndrome at its best.

All the Presidents Men!

I thought it would be great, entertaining and educational, perhaps even thrilling

It turned out to be just wank :angry:

One of my all-time favourite films!

Agree with the mentions for The Big Lebowski though. It's okay, but that's all. I've never understood why so many people seem to think it's "genius" (heard that last weekend).

Seriously, it hurt my ears

:angry:

Isn't it regarded as one of the most poorly mixed albums there's ever been?

Or was that At War With The Mystics?

It was the latter. For example....

Surfer Rosa by The Pixies is an old CD that seems daintily quiet next to At War with the Mystics, but if you nudge the volume dial up and then up a little more and maybe up a little further, it gets better and better, louder and louder, the juxtapositional leap from whispered, undulating verse to hammer-attack chorus getting more and more exciting and visceral, guitars and bass and drums and Black Francis’ yowling curses all clear and vibrant and dangerously realistic. It could maybe do with a little more bass now that we're more able to reproduce low-frequencies than we were in 1988, but that's a very minor gripe. At War with the Mystics, on the other hand, just gets painful and messy and starts "clipping" when you turn it up.
