No coincidence that beckham wasn't playing i reckon. Lives off his name

Change the name Beckham for Gerrard and I think you're spot on. As good as SWP was with the ball, and closing down, there was absolutely no end product from him yet again. Give the ball to Beckham and you'll guarantee that your striker will receive it in a dangerous position.

I'm failing to see what Gerrard has actually done for England in the last 10 games though

My mistake. First name on the teamsheet from now on then :icon_lol:

Sven has certainly got some decisions to make now. The diamond could accomodate Gerrard (left), Beckham (right), Lampard (point) and a holding player.

But I would be worried that Gerrard and Beckham would be sucked towards the middle making us very narrow. Ashley Cole would have no problem providing the width on the left, but I can't see Gary Neville providing an effective outlet going forward on the right.

I think he has to bite the bullet and drop Gerrard. Iwould go for:

--------------------------------Robinson-------------------------------

Neville---------------Terry----------------Campbell-----------A.cole

---------------------------------Carrick--------------------------------

Beckham----------------------Lampard-------------------------J.cole

---------------------------------Rooney--------------------------------

----------------------------------Owen---------------------------------

as a starting eleven. However, things change through-out a tournament so Rio, Carragher, King, Parker, SWP as well as Gerrard could easily find their way into the team. Perhaps Richarson or even Downing could be added to that list.

Hargreaves, Jenas and Phil Neville should be put out of their misery now, they're not up to it.
