peasepud 59
Then you could argue that Douglas hall should have a statue because without him there probably wouldnt have been KK the manager. Or how about Arthur cox? if he hadnt brought Keegan here as a player then I'd say its highly unlikely that Fat Douggy would have even thought of the name Keegan. That's not logical though and you know it. Isnt it? (and before anyone thinks it, Id rather there was a bust of Peter Reids monkey fucking heed in SJP than one of fat Doug!) so what came first? if Douggy hadnt pushed it then KK wouldnt have been here therefore we could now be arguing that Terry Venables deserves one instead because he'd saved us from the drop and kept us in the 2nd division for three years. What Im getting at is the old chicken and egg scenario. Or more importantly who is most important the inventor of television or the man who discovered electricity? television is geet good it has porn and all sorts but without electricity it would have just been a fucking box in the corner. This is the thing, theres an argument and counter argument for every name put forward. for me, the forgotten name in all these discussions is Stan Seymour. ewerk 30371
Although Sir Bobby appeared to have turned us down before he took the job, when he did take the job he put more enthusiasm into the job than any other manager since Keegan. The fact that he is still going to the games given his current health problems says a lot for the man's character and his love for the club. Tom 14011
He was honouring his contract at Barcelona - not a club you leave but had he come earlier we would have won a few trophies without a doubt. Oh well.
Asprilla 96
I know people dont think we should have a statue or stand named after him but we should! Hes one of the best 2 managers in living memory, he supports the club, hes from the region and we should be proud he associates himself with our club top man and if there wasn't something put up at the club permanently it'd be a shame This argument has been done to death several times over but there's people more deserving. Joe Harvey, Keegan etc Yep and it'll rage on for years to come. There are bigger servants to the club and I wouldnt put KK in that category. The only thing ypu can guarantee is that this is something that splits the fans right down the middle. Oh and Jimbo, whats the sig image all about? You wouldn't put Keegan in the category of bigger servants to the club? Not any more sadly.

bobbyshinton 59
He is worthy of a statue within the ground so is Harvey and a few more in a hall of fame like room. With exception to the west /old stand, the stands should have always remained Leazes, Gallowgate, Popular The Bobster has spoken nyone who disagrees is a tit
FCUM 1
You can argue that other people have done more for your club and I wouldn't disagree. But one thing is clear, Sir Bobby Robson MUST be commemorated somewhere. He is one of the true legends of our game and one of the few 'gentleman' who can be put into that category. To me, there are only 3 places you could really have some kind of commemorative statue: Wembley - To mark his impact on both his country and the game in general. Ipswich - To mark his fantastic acheivements there Newcastle - Amongst his 'own' people and the club he loves. I can see some logic in all 3 options but if I'm being honest I'd much rather see something in Newcastle, irrespective of others 'acheivements' with the club. Asprilla 96
You fucking what? Have a word man. I'm not impressed with him. He deserted us at a crucial time and has said nothing since. When Roy Keane walked out on Ireland at the 02 World Cup, he put his personal feelings before the team. Some people thought he did the right thing, some didn't. Nobody's right, I just see it differently to you. No big deal.

Happy Face 29
The worst bit is that he looks like one of the Charlton brothers. Utter legend, and recognised as such in his lifetime. I'm sure at 75 he's grateful for every moment he's had and couldn't have asked for more. A life to celebrate, not to mourn.

Craig 6682
To me, there are only 3 places you could really have some kind of commemorative statue:Wembley - To mark his impact on both his country and the game in general. Ipswich - To mark his fantastic acheivements there Newcastle - Amongst his 'own' people and the club he loves. Totally agree and as SLP says, there is already a statue at Portman Road. The FA should recognise him in some way for what he has done for football and the English game in general. What he achieved at NUFC was only a small proportion of what he achieved elsewhere perhaps but then the same can be said of Keegan, Shearer, Beardsley and others over the years. Of the people this football club should recognise in some way, he has to be up there amongst them. IMO the list should be: Stan Seymour Snr Jackie Milburn Joe Harvey Sir John Hall Kevin Keegan Sir Bobby Robson Both Beardsley and Shearer are possibly worthy of some recognition too. Of the 6 names mentioned up there, only 3 have had anything done to date - Milburn (stand), Harvey (restaurant within ground) and Hall (stand). The fact that Stan Seymour Snr has never been recognised is an absolute disgrace IMO.

Monkeys Fist 42129
A life to celebrate, not to mourn. Absolutely Legend,Gent, Master of the Malapropism To all those arguing over whether or not to erect some kind of tribute........ Get a fucking grip lads... It's not just his time with us we'd be paying RESPECT to, it's his life in football, and equally , the manner in which he lived his life outside of the game.
