What is all this sh*t I'm seeing about Pizza Hut being renamed Pasta Hut?

Damn do-gooder idiots gone insane. If you want pasta you go to a nice Italian restaurant not take your lass to f**king Pizza/Pasta Hut.

Pizza Hut is for pizzas! Its not rocket science. Whoever is in their Marketing team wants shot!

Pizza Hut to become Pasta Hut

The chain, which launched its first restaurant in Britain in 1973, is replacing its pizza-focused menu with a menu consisting mainly of pasta dishes.

This means that as well as the traditional deluxe pizzas, customers will also have the option of ordering more sophisticated dishes such as tomato and mozzarella mezzaluna and prawn and crayfish arrabiata.

The re-branding is part of an £18 million revamp package designed to attract new customers and move it into more upmarket terrain.

As part of the revamp, the chain is temporarily naming 30 of its branches Pasta Hut.

Pizza Hut boss Alasdair Murdoch said: "We've really been on a journey for four or five years, trying to make our food better, offer more variety and quality for the customers.

"Now we're putting our food above the parapet. We're trying to say to people: 'Yes, we're great at pizzas, but we're also great at salads and pasta.' Pasta is around 3 or 4 per cent of our sales. I'm very sure in a couple of weeks' time that will be 10 per cent."

Mr Murdoch said they have also upgraded their distinctive salad bar and have made improvements in areas including the nutrition and quality of ingredients in their pizzas and pastas.

A statement from the company also says that the restaurant plans to sneak 'hidden vegetables in kids' meals'.

The re-naming is for a trial period only and customers can offer their thoughts on the new-look restaurants at Pastahut.co.uk.

The company will be keen to hear feedback from customers since the decision to change such a big, household name is potentially a very risky one.

In 1998, Kellogg's briefly changed the name of Coco Pops to Choco Krispies in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and South Africa so that they could be in line with Germany and Spain, where it is known by this name. However, after falling sales and a telephone poll in which the British public voted, its name was reverted in 1999.

Another classic British brand Opal Fruits were renamed Starburst in 1998, the name under which they had been exported to the US in the seventies. The original name is now set to return in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the change.

Cadbury reintroduced the Wispa last year after an internet campaign which also involved protesters storming a stage at the Glastonbury festival.

Pizza Hut was never amazing for Pizza anyway.

If you are eating out 'Frankie and benny's' is the best option for a reasonably priced meal or Pizza Express is decent.

If you are ordering in most of the time a local place is best but if you are going to do it online I would use Dominoes.

Their efforts have obviously worked so well over the last four or five years. What could possibly go wrong? <_<

Can't wait for this lot to disappear in a big old credit crunch landslide. They're proper shite.

Don tlike pizza hut, maybe as Im not a big pizza fan. Though Dominoes are canny. Like Italian, but while the food in Frankie and Bennies can be canny, the service is usually shit. Much like most places with under 20's staff. Doesnt help that Im an impatient fucker either like.

Oh, and pasta hut? such a shit name <_<

What a load of pretentious guff.

"We're great at salads..."

Wow, that's something to take pride in. I'm great at toast. Give me a medal.

Isn't there a major chain (who's name escapes me at the moment) that basically is Pizza Hut but focusing on pasta anyway? Or there used to be anyway.

If you think Frankie & Bennie's service is shit, don't ever go to TGI Fridays.

Tell me about it! I went there last Wednesday, the place was almost empty but still I waited nearly 30 mins between finishing my starter and getting my main course. When it did finally arrive, the spotty gimp was holding the plate with an oven glove it was that fucking hot.

Simply told him that next time he wants to use a microwave to reheat a meal that has quite obviously been sat there waiting for delivery, he might want to move it onto fresh crockery once he had so it didn't give the game away.

Mind you, the cardboard-like cheese was a giveaway too.

I really like TGI's although I'd definitely go with the general sentiment that if you want really good food a chain is last place you'd go.

Italian's are always the best place for pizza but there's always so many better things to have I never one.

And pricey with it. For what you get, anyway.

Aye, if it was dirt cheap I could understand people going but your run of the mill Italian is usually nicer and cheaper.

The old manager of their was a fuckin cunt. "Billy", that remains the only pub I've ever been barred from, some thanks for scoring the only goal in a cup final, winning the only trophy they'll ever win. Never had scran there, but the tosser/stuck up cunt/nobhead/Old Bill ratio of that pub is as high as I've ever seen.

"Never amazing"? It's just vile. I will never understand why someone would want to eat Italian food at a chain restaurant.
