peasepud 59
My hesitation is about trust, yes and the (potential) sums involved. for example - is there any dirt the press could dig up about the people running this? like a conviction/caution for theft when they were 14?? basically pud - i would feel a lot better with more info. i appreciate things are still at an early stage and a lot of things wont have even been discussed never mind decided on so ill be hanging back absorbing as much info as possible and will see how things develop. Then I understand that, like I say give it a couple of days for the latest lot of stuff to come out ie who the board are and what the money is going to go towards before deciding. At the same time though, is putting a couple of names and faces and a lot of spiel about how we will get this and donate towards that etc going to give you the trust? Unless you get a full detailed background of history and financial aspects on each member are you going to be swayed? Oh and Im not allowed near the cash or the girls toilets
The Fish 10872
While it's reasonable to ask for a brief summary of the kep players in the NUSC I think we can trust the who we know to be behind it, to provide a balanced and fair account of their actions. If this was an amalgam of faceless names, we'd be right to be anxious. But NUFC.com, The Mag, TT etc. have always been trying to represent the fans independently at varying degrees of sacrifice to themselves, I don't think that access to funds will instantly corrupt their actions or ideals. I trust them to do what's in the best interests of the club, and if they squirrel it away for a big party at Xmas with Bollinger and Caviare, I've only lost a tenner. Asprilla 96
To be fair I'm somewhat reassured by the fact that it will be properly audited and accounted for. A large amount of money can easily bring out the worst in people so this puts my mind at rest somewhat. I think you should be able to use PayPal on the site itself. Not many people want to post a cheque these days.
Scottish Mag 3
Are people who register online going to get details of meetings e-mailed to them as I believe the last meeting took place after the launch of the site yet many who "signed up" never heard anything? Also is someone going to type up the minutes after each meeting and these be available for members to download?

This talk about the later meetings not being publicised confuses me, why would they be? the two meetings that have taken place since the original Irish Club one have been committee meetings where we discussed the setting up, naming, leafletting campaign etc. The 1st meeting for members will be publicised well in advance and everyone who ahs signed up will get an invite. Minutes etc will then be available on the website. And yes, Im installing a payment method on the website as we speak.
stevietoon 0
there have been some interesting comments and ideas posted regrading NUSC and i'm sure that the folks setting up the club will be taking them all onboard. i know everyone involved has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this porganisation off the ground. the people who attended the last two meetings were the one's who attended the first meeting and made a commitment there and then to get involved in the setting up of the club itself. You cant have a committee of 250+ its only been 2 weeks and much focus has been on keeping the pressure on Ashely, llambias, wise and Jiminez while giving 100% support to the team. A two tier approach; setting up the club while continuing the protest. members will be kept informed of all developments and the important thing is that the membership reflects the clubs aims and allows it to speak for and on behalf of supporters of newcastle united. the club can take up issues on behalf of its members - not getting refunds owed on season tickets despite being promised them 4 months ago - problems with heavy handed stewarding - coherently explaining the fans views on Ashley et al's stewardship of the club - ensuring that any new owners dont make the same mistakes as Ashley and understand what this club means to supporters . Now that ashley has put a deadline on bids for the club, has anyone considered what will happen if none come forward. we only know from press statements released by ashleys "friends" in the press who write his press releases for him that 7 interested parties have voiced an interest; yet four weeks no firm bid has materialised. in the current financial climate we could be stuck with an impotent owner who wont invest in the team come january and a board of execs who dont even watch the club anymore and are just taking our money. what role do Wise and Jiminez now have at the club if Ashley is not interested in team affairs anymore and obviously wont be putting any money into investment in new players. ashley is no longer a billionaire; according to reports in the sunday times his share values in various investments has dropped by over £900 million. together with his alleged gambling losses on HBOS and his personal investment in NUFC, the City have lost faith in Ashley and he is not viewed as a sensible investment and if he doesnt find a buyer willing to pay over the odds for NUFC dont expect any january signings. send off your membership, trust the people who have done such a great so far to get the club off the ground; support them in their campaign to keep the pressure on Ashley and together we really can make positive changes happen at NUFC. NUSC will announce benefits of membership and "value for your membership fee" as soon as they can. what you can be certain of however is that the people at the heart of NUSC are supporters; not imported executives being paid handsomely by an owner who hasnt a clue and who cant see that his "friends" are ripping him off and tearing the heart out of the club we all love. join NUSC, you know it makes sense geordies united, will never be defeated........... mal shiels 0
All on forum, i have just registered and joined the forum. I am one of the 'interim' committee members of the NUSC who is very interested in all the points of view posted on here and other Toon forums. Firstly can i add to some of the earlier replies and say that the NUSC is being ste up properly with a view to being aropund a long time, bank account, audited accounts, interim positions (chair, secretary, treasurer, etc) being allocated, meetings to be organised and ultimitely a special meeting convened so that all members can have a say in the running and indeed who runs the NUSC. The people who have stepped forward are just fans who are sick of seeing our club and team being dragged through the mud and ridiculed around the country. All viewpoints are welcome and the feedback on the £10 membership fee etc, and what the NUSC should be doing is brilliant. This will all be taken on board. I totally undertsand the people who want to hold back until they see something more concrete, but a great deal is being done in a short time, with much much more to be done. We are currebtly organising pen profiles to go onto the website so that all can see just who is involved and why. I would urge you all to give the NUSC the benefit of the doubt, watch what we do, how we intend to try and reperesent the fans of Newcastle United, then once you are convinced, join and help make NUSC into the biggest supporters club in the world. Many regards, Mal

Craig 6682
To be honest if people are put off joining because it costs a tenner, then there heart can't be that in it. As Tom says, it's the cost of a few pints, or a couple of packs of cigarettes or whatever. I hardly think a ten pound contribution can be a genuine disincentive to someone who really wants their voice to be heard. Shame on you David...
