That's the thing - the crowd have been put through a lot of shit over and over again and for a few it looks to have been too much. If you put Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool under the same 10 years we have been through I wonder how many fans they would get? The crowd (mostly) is low due to people staying away to make a point to the owner / hierarchy and not because of whats happening on field which is usually the cause of low attendance. Crowds were down a bit from last season though, for quite a number of reasons, not least a lack of enthusiasm for the lack of transfer activity over the summer. I think I read somewhere we still had the largest gate of the weekend (maybe it was just the Saturday) for the Bolton game though, which puts it into perspective a bit.
