toonotl 2979
Have you read the Glen Greenwald pieces on Harris. Guess they'll bring you out in hives I've seen bits and pieces. I've seen Sam's response to them too. I'm quite happy to entertain other people's opinions honestly, without any bother to me personally, or any need to falsely represent other's opinions. Let me know when you're ready to do the same and we can talk.
Happy Face 29
Didn't think Harris responded to any points directly really. Just accused Greenwald of quote mining and not being nice. Sorry if i misrepresented your opinion at any point. Thought i asked you to clarify when I wasn't convinced.
catmag 337
Did you ever listen to The Champs, you bald arsehole? Did you ever listen to any of the You Made It Weird podcasts? There's a Jeselnik episode in there somewhere.
Gemmill 44881
Nah I forgot. I will give it a listen though - I've heard Pete Holmes on the Duncan Trussell podcast before. I would imagine he (Trussell) has turned up on the Holmes one too. He's a nutter.

The latest YMIW is almost unlistenable due to Holmes over-exuberance - he's like a kid on Sunny Delight, but there are lots of decent episodes. toonotl 2979
Graham Hancock with Randall Carlson on the Joe Rogan Podcast a few days ago. Hancock is always very interesting if nothing else.
ChezGiven 0
Is that you wanting to re-visit the discussion on advanced astronomy in ancient buildings? I'm going to get Hancock's new book for his overview of the astronomical alignments of Gobekli Tepe https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21929303-400-worlds-oldest-temple-built-to-worship-the-dog-star/ Are you coming round to the more open minded way of looking at things now or just taking the piss? ChezGiven 0
http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1307/1307.8397.pdf Crazy to think we had it all wrong eh? Precessional astronomy and mathematics in 10,000 BC. Also worrying to think that this is on the Turkish / Syrian border, where it all started and where it all ends? Gemmill 44881
I tried reading one of his books after hearing him on Rogan. Couldn't get through it, the boring cunt.
Gemmill 44881
I can't listen to Rogan anymore either. He just fucking makes stuff up and tries to pass it off with "that totally could have happened", and all the thick comics he get on praise him for being so "thorough" in his research. ChezGiven 0
He talks quite a bit of shite too but i find all the pre-history stuff interesting.

No no. I bought his new book as well. I haven't started on it yet. I'll PM you when I've started so we can commence our discussion. Like I said above, it's very interesting stuff. I was being sincere with that thought. For once. By the by, have you got any recommendations on some good books on secular morality? I was interested by your thoughts on consequentialism in the 'terrorists aren't terrorists' thread. I can't listen to Rogan anymore either. He just fucking makes stuff up and tries to pass it off with "that totally could have happened", and all the thick comics he get on praise him for being so "thorough" in his research. I don't mind Rogan. I think he's over enthusiastic at times, but I don't think he deliberately misleads or maliciously presents wrong information as fact. I just think, at times, his mouth moves too fast for his brain to keep up. I watch his podcasts a fair bit because he quite often gets some really interesting people on. ChezGiven 0
Excellent, I have ordered it and plan to read it around Christmas (on the winter solstice ) A Companion to Ethics edited by Peter Singer which is a collection of fantastic essays from some of the best academic ethicists. http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0631187855.html Practical Ethics by Peter Singer http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/philosophy/ethics/practical-ethics-3rd-edition I found it useful to approach the subject from a particular position and then read around that position. For me it was the utilitarianism / consequentialism of social welfare theory in Economics.

It's possible I'm in a podcast, nine episodes are out so far. Here's the iTunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/seeking-tumnus/id1035653716?mt=2 Or just google or search Seeking Tumnus in whichever podcast app you use.
