William Hill betting

I've just signed up for William Hill online, just after I made my first few bets I got a phone call from someone who was saying that they represent William Hill and she said she couldn't confirm my account because they were not sure if I was 18 or not because the date of birth I put has just recently gone by. So she asked if I had a driving license and then asked for the full name on the license and then the license number, I gave her those details and she told that my account has now been activated.

 

Stupid Besty comes along and puts doubt in my mind by saying, " Imagine if it wasn't them."

 

 

So could anyone tell me if William Hill do phone people to confirm their age or not.

 

Could someone do anything with my driving license number?
