wykikitoon 21478
I still think he is the best in the Prem, but in the same league as Buffon, thats pushing it IMO.
Guest Stevie
Stevie, givens a great keeper no doubt definitely in the top 4 or 5 premiership keepers I've seen. But he's won little or nothing... and he's inferior to buffon in most areas. how's his kicking? how's his communication skills, how's his penalty saving skills. his cross interception. All are inferior to cassillas, buffon, van der sar, and probably even Cech as well. The only thing he is their equal on is shot stopping. You need to make the distinction between very very good, and great. He's won little or nothing? What's that song Man Utd sing? David May Superstar won more medals than Shearer. I'd rather have Given than any of them, and FWIW I'd have Cassilas second, none of them are as agile as Shay, and as Sloop John rightly points our Cech has had bigger howlers in recent years than Shay. tinofbeans 91
good choice of song stevie. apples and oranges however. May played what around 80 games and often out of position.... as a crowd favourite given gives 10/10 whenever he can. he makes outstanding saves. He is very very good. but he is not in the same league as the keepers i have mentioned despite his very obvious talent.

I think he's above them all, I think Griffin's goal would've been saved by Given, I mean it wasn't even goingin hits his elbow and goes in. As I've said I wouldn't swap him, although Casillas is one of the best I've ever seen. No one gets near Schmeichel in this decade though.

Holden McGroin 6918
To be honest I thought Harper deserved to start as number 1 due to his performances at the back end of last season. Plus, Shay was a bit wobbly last year. Turns out it was just an injury he couldn't overcome at the time. Some posters said he was finished like. Harper should have played for much of last season, Given was clearly suffering from lasting long-term complications from his big injury. Looks like that last operation has settled it though, I guess. Here's me thinking you were basing putting Given ahead of Buffon on one match. It turns out you've based it one incident in that match

Guest Stevie
Trapattoni urges AC Milan to go for Newcastle keeper Given17.10.08 | tribalfootball.com Giovanni Trapattoni is urging AC Milan to bid for Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given. Republic of Ireland boss Trapattoni rates Given in the same class as Juventus great Gigi Buffon and said: "Milan should sign him immediately. "He will solve the goalkeeper problems Milan have had for many years." Why does he not just fuck off the horrible old go on whoevers side is winning in wars cunt? It just goes to show how ignorant these greasy Italian cunts are, like it's a revelation that Given is a decent keeper.

Guest Stevie
Given better than Buffon? Now that's embarrassing. Triggy you're 18 and you still eat 10p bags of space raiders, that's embarrassing. Expressing a football opinion, when you've watched the game for over 25 years, and have forgotten more games than some teenage members have even attended, is not embarrassing.
