Park Life 71
HTT on N.O. This new system you talk of has: Forced our manager to resign Failed to tie up Owen to a longer deal Failed to strengthen the squad and replace players sold Failed to add quality to key areas of the team Failed to communicate with fans Fucked up season ticket arrivals Made us the laughing stock of world football Turned us into a circus
Tom 14011
Changed the face of a Newcastle hero. Alienated the fans from the club. Put a horrible Sports Direct sign on the Gallowgate end. Scared off any decent manager we could of had. Made the nation hate us. Made us a target for the national press even more so.

Jimbo 175
We still owe on players Jimbo. I don't deny it, but at least the potentially crippling debt is gone.
Guest alex
We still owe on players Jimbo. Aye, but the debt being paid off tells you the money owed on players isn't the handicap they'd have us believe. It's just something to bash the old regime with and use as an excuse for not spending much at all in net terms. I know you weren't sticking up for the board here btw. I still maintain it's the personnel creating the problem here and not the structure though.

However I think Kevin is right in saying that the manager should be 100% in charge - It scares the living shit out of me that Dennis Wise has more influence than the tea lady at this club - never mind the fucking manager. That a DoF role (as it is a stupidly wide context) could only really work here if the manager brought them in. Where as the Keegan/Wise relationship seems to have more to do with the CIA handbook on destabilising regimes. Actually it'd probably be worth Shearer being appointed as manager just for the inevitable Gullit/Big Dunc moment.

Craig 6682
I tell you what this structure is now... a house of cards! With Mike Ashley as the foundations and Wise, Jiminez & Vetere as the walls. The fans may well get behind the players on the pitch and even some poor muppet who the draft in to manage us... but they'll not rest now until Ashley is gone and once he goes, the walls will cave in! Surely the three stoogies aren't stupid enough not to realise this? I'd be looking for a way out now if I were them.

Tom 14011
Newcastle's own web archives prove Kevin Keegan is right - FACT! By Simon Bird 8/09/2008 kevin keegan Kevin Keegan will use evidence from Newcastle's own club publications to back up his £8m claim for constructive dismissal. Newcastle chiefs set about trashing Keegan at the weekend with briefings aimed at tarnishing his reputation - a move that will trigger more revulsion from fans. Owner Mike Ashley and his directors claimed Keegan had no responsibility over new signings. But Keegan yesterday insisted: "When I joined Newcastle it was made clear to me I would have the final say on player movement." And Mirror Sport has built up a strong case to prove the club's statement is misleading - using their own website archive. Fact: Ashley told Newcastle's official magazine last month: "If the deal is right - that means the right player who Kevin wants - we will do the deal. Kevin is very particular on who he wants." Fact: Wise told the club website on February 1: "He (Keegan) will say yes or no. He has the final word. No-one else. I am not going to do things like bring players in behind his back." Fact: Later that day, in a piece billed as an exclusive with the club's TV station, Wise added: "A lot of people have got a little mixed up with the reason I'm here and we need to straighten that out quite quickly. I'm not here to be involved in the first team." Fact: On January 29 then chairman Chris Mort stated: "Kevin will be responsible for ALL matters related to the first team." Fact: Keegan, proving he is being consistent in claiming he was in charge of transfers from day one, said on April 24: "If they bring players in who are not my players I wouldn't be managing this club. Ashley and Executive Director Dennis Wise are in the ludicrous position of having to claim they were misquoted by their own club officials to wriggle out of the row that led to Keegan's walk-out. The club is now left with little choice but to appoint a friend of Wise as their new boss who will take the title of 'coach'. That has led to Wise's former Chelsea team-mates Gus Poyet and the charismatic Gianfranco Zola becoming front-runners for the St James's Park job, along with Didier Deschamps and Spaniard Jose Camacho. One candidate, Real Zaragoza boss Marcelino Toral, has ruled himself out of the running. He said: "It doesn't matter what the team is, or how much money they have, no club will take me away from Zaragoza. I have made a commitment."
