Gemmill 44853
Times Read this and weep some more. I hope for the sake of my opinion of Keegan it is all bollocks. This is what I'm scared of, what is going to be the reaction if Keegan has acted like the petulant child these reports suggest, instead of the martyr we expect/believe him to be? They are talking shit to make him look daft man. The press statement is a pack of lies which contradicts what they have said in the past, and to say things like kevin wasnt allowed to comment to the press about signings or players we sold - come on man its a fucking joke! I'm just worried is all mate. You aren't the only one, the pictures of Vittere and Jiminez at the Stoke match makes you think that this system was planned or in place when Keegan signed. The system probably was in place but that doesnt mean that it was advertised to work like it eventually did - freezing keegan out of any decisions related to sale or purchase of player. Do you really think he would have agreed to that. Im amazed that a very obvious smear campaign is showing signs of success with some people. Even releasing a press statement on a saturday night at 10 is so clearly a tie in with some articles they have managed to line up for the sundays. Its closer to a sun article than a press statement! That statement is one of the worst things i've ever read. Everything thats been said since January has been a lie - just don't know what to believe. Just think back to that interview he did for 'Inside Sport' last October when he was asked about rumours about becoming DoF above Allardyce to know he'd never have agreed to it. Actually, given that interview and how public it was, doesn't that make then even more fucking docile for appointing him in the first place? So far we've seen that Fat Cunt can lie so if we have to chose someone's word then Keegan's is much more likely to be the true one - cockney wankers will spout anything if they think it'll get them off the hook, to make matters worse they're now trying to do it publically through the press and make us fans look like complete idiots. TheMoog 0
No way on this planet should people start to question what's happened, Keegan has been forced out, end of story - nothing thses fuckers can say should change that and people should be prepared to do something about it instead of being fobbed off with a half-arsed bullshit story and blatant bollocks. Let's not let our head be turned, we need to get this scum out of our club, they're tarnished the very name of NUFC.

Craig 6682
From the Chronicle, May 2008: "NEWCASTLE United chairman Chris Mort has promised Kevin Keegan that he will have money to spend in the summer transfer market. And perhaps just as significantly, Mort added that Keegan WILL have the final say on all transfer dealings, despite the talk of their being two lists of wanted players at the club – one of the manager and one of director of football Dennis Wise. Cheers for that Jimbo... but i'm almost positive that in one of the only interviews Ashley has given since becoming owner, he echoed the same comments - I'd love to re-read that!! On Ashley's reluctance to speak to anyone, we all thought it was great following what we'd been used to in the Shepherd regime. Remember when we all rejoiced because the Chronicle obviously weren't getting a sniff any more? Quite clear why that was now and it's two-fold IMO: 1) Ashley doesn't speak and therefore assumes absolutely no responsibilty whatsoever 2) Everything they'd been doing is rotten to the core - discussion would mean exposure. "But there's so much involved in running a club that you must make sure people aren't spread too thinly. How could Kevin devote all his time to the first team if he also had to look after the Academy? That's where Dennis Wise comes in." TheMoog 0
My feeling is of absolute total and utter hatred towards the parasitic scum which have invaded our club, I want him to fuck off, I want all his cronies to fucking to fuck off - nothing he can say or do will ever, ever get him my forgiveness. My club feels tainted by their presence, what worries me the most is people, other fans who start to let the apathy in or start forgetting the goings on of the past few days - this filth needs removing from any association with NUFC. TheMoog 0
Okay, full interview from the Chron by Adam Jupp: (Clicky -Interview August 12th) NEWCASTLE United owner Mike Ashley has given more fascinating details of his Toon takeover. Ashley has revealed how he ended up buying Sir John Hall’s stake in the club and why he believes the Magpies are the one of “the Premier League’s jewels”. The billionaire tycoon says he was shocked by the state of the club’s finances when he took the helm and tells how more than £25m is still owed to other clubs for past transfer deals. Ashley has hit back at claims he only wears his black and white shirt and sits with the Toon Army as a gimmick, saying he feels the same frustrations they do. And he denies ever having showdown talks with Kevin Keegan, as he explains how the manager’s relationship with Dennis Wise works. Ashley’s full interview is published in Newcastle United’s new official magazine, which is available in shops now. --------------------------------------------------------- How I bought United ASHLEY has revealed the mechanics of his Toon takeover. “It was the quickest I’ve ever done a deal of that size – we’re talking only a few days. I was told there was an opportunity to acquire Sir John Hall’s stake in Newcastle United, that he may be a seller but only if somebody acted without any delay because he didn’t want to cause any form of disruption for the club. “The last thing Sir John wanted was a long drawn-out affair because he feared that wouldn’t be good for Newcastle United. “The deal was put to me on a Saturday. By the Monday, in advance of speaking to Sir John, I’d deposited the equivalent of money we hoped he would accept for his shares at the lawyers and on the Tuesday the deal was effectively done. “By Wednesday (May 23, 2007) the announcement was public and that was the first anyone, including the media, knew about it. Once I was told about it, it was done very quickly. Sir John was ready to act if I was and it was a very straightforward process. He adds: “Maybe I could have bought a smaller club, but it just wouldn’t have been the same challenge. It’s like settling for the high jump when really you want to do the pole vault – you want more excitement so you go higher. “I was being offered the chance to own one of the jewels, one of the diamonds of the Premier League. There was no hesitation, why would there be?” --------------------------------------------------------- The state of the finances ASHLEY says he was surprised by the state of Newcastle United’s finances when he took over. “Financially, the club was in a difficult position because I really do think that it had over-extended itself. “We first heard about the potential sale on a Saturday and had done the deal by the Wednesday, so if you are asking if we did due diligence before buying then the answer has to be no. “But would I change anything about that process? No. Do I regret anything? Absolutely not. What I will add is that one of the most unfortunate things about Newcastle United finances at the time was the amount of money still owed on players signed in comparison to the amount of income that was due off players who had gone. “There is still £27m net to pay on transfers that were done before I came. So probably in the latter years before we came in could you argue that the club was beginning to lose its way. It has also already taken upfront payments from commercial deals and sponsorships which didn’t help us at all. “It seemed as though the club was in a very downward spiral, one it would have found very hard to come out of. “Apart from the purchase of the club and the associated costs that come with that, I’ve put in a further £100m to reduce debts and expect no interest is paid on that. Yet still we have the outstanding debt of the monies still owed on player transfers.” --------------------------------------------------------- Why I sit with the fans ASHLEY has told why he loves sitting with the Toon Army in his black and white shirt. “I wear my strip and I go in with the fans because that’s how I’ve always gone to football and I enjoy it. “Nothing beats the atmosphere of being in with the fans. “The fans who make the away trips are so fanatical every game feels like a cup game and it’s tremendous to be part of it.” Asked how he feels when the supporters react negatively to the team’s performance, he added: “Honest answer? There were times last season when the fans were singing certain things at certain games and I wanted to join in, I really did. “I feel like they do. I’m in with the fans, and if we are not playing well I take this side because I’m thinking to myself: ‘How can this be? We are Newcastle United and we should be doing better than this’.” --------------------------------------------------------- How I get on with KK ASHLEY has revealed how he came to recruit Kevin Keegan as manager and gives his view on the club’s structure. “Again, it all happens so quickly. And it was another no-brainer. I took a call from someone who said ‘do you realise Kevin Keegan may be interested in the Newcastle United job again?’ “At first I thought it couldn’t be true. I was out of the country but my reply was ‘if he is interested then tell him I’ll meet him anywhere as soon as I get back’. “It couldn’t have been an easier choice.” Asked about how Keegan’s role fits in with that of Dennis Wise, he said: “Kevin is a great manager and he is happiest working with the players. “But there’s so much involved in running a club that you must make sure people aren’t spread too thinly. How could Kevin devote all his time to the first team if he also had to look after the Academy? That’s where Dennis Wise comes in.” Edited September 6, 2008 by Armchair Pundit

Wise left his role as Leeds boss earlier this week to take up his position with the Premier League club. "I'm here to help Kevin, bringing young players through and also recommend certain players to him," said Wise. "He'll say yes and no, he has the final word, no-one else. Everything that happens will be run past him." Wise, who has previously managed Millwall and Swindon, added: "I'm not going to bring players in behind his back - I'm not into that. "A lot of people have got mixed up with the reason why I am here. I'm not here to be involved in the first team, I'm not here to manage. "I have to concentrate more on the academy, we need some young blood coming through of our own. We need to look abroad for players and that's my intention over the next few years." Keegan has insisted that the appointment of Wise was made with his blessing and that he believes the new structure will be successful. He said: "I am all for the changes and I approve of them. They want someone on the board who understands football, and Dennis understands football very well. "It will work very well. Dennis reports to me - the chain is established. "The club has become slightly fragmented. From my point of view, it's a positive thing - provided I get all the help I need. I know Dennis. I know he's intelligent. I know his job here is to help me. He's on my side Kevin Keegan "I know what Dennis is going to do, and the idea in principle is good - to look for new players, to bring youngsters through and do things which our academy isn't doing so much at the moment." Keegan also revealed he was involved in the appointment after speaking to owner Mike Ashley before he returned as manager. "I knew about it. It's not a surprise to me, it might be to other people," Keegan told BBC Radio 5 live. "Two or three names were given to me when I first sat down and talked about the job with the owner. One of them was Dennis. "I know Dennis. I know he's intelligent. I know his job here is to help me. He's on my side. "How can any manager be against someone who is going to come to the club to try to bring in talent? "It's right for this football club. A lot of people outside might be shocked about it. I think in the long term it's the right decision. It's something that needs to be done."
