Craig 6670
Kevin Keegan - Latest Club Statement Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that discussions are ongoing between the Board and Kevin Keegan. Both the Club and Kevin would like to reiterate that Kevin remains as manager. He has not resigned nor has he been sacked, as has been confirmed in respective statements made by Kevin and Newcastle United Football Club. When the fuck did KK make a statement?? Or are we to assume that interview with Richard Bevan was him acting as Keegan's mouthpiece?
Snake 0
Keegan still wants to manage Newcastle United Sep 3 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle KEVIN KEEGAN still wants to manage Newcastle United That is the word from the Keegan camp today. A source close to the United boss told me: “Kevin still wants the job. Make no mistake about that. But he would like to be able to buy his own players. “If he was allowed to bring in his own players and he failed he would be the first to hold his hands up. “He has always bought flair players and players who can get people off their seats. “You just have to look at what he did at Manchester City. “The reason they are in the Premier League now is because Kevin brought in both Sylvain Distin and Nicolas Anelka. These were two masterstrokes.” The latest United crisis is attracting attention from throughout the whole of the football world. And nowhere more so than in India where billionaire Anil Ambani and his Reliance group are still more than interested in buying Mike Ashley out. My information is that Reliance are still ready to put a £275m offer on the table for Newcastle United."

David Kelly 1217
I see that Anal is saying that this mega bucks Indian guy is still waiting in the wings. While I seriously doubt the validity of anything that comes out of that pricks mouth, if it were tru it might be the best bet for everyone. spongebob toonpants 3909
Show of hands Who thinks KK has gone? Despote the statements which dont say a great deal or anything. *shows hands* Not sure he has now. Still don't think this will be resolved in the long run though. It's a complete fucking mess. Also, if the results aren't great (because let's face it, the squad isn't anything special) and we have a bad run the media will heap pressure upon KK regardless of the backing of the fans. Any little thing now will be blown up into a massive dispute etc. It doesn't look good either way. I still think he is gone, but I think if he stays there will be big chnages to prevent a reoccurence. I wouldnt think for a second Ashley or Keegan would let this happen again. Having typed that I realise the chanes of Keegan staying are even less than I thought If the problems are around the structure of the club there is no chance of Keegan staying, simply because they were put in place for continuitity from one manager to the next. If it's down to who has final say there could be some movement. I was thinking more of changes to personel than structure, though I agree that KK would plainly need to excersise greater influence on decisions. I dont think the structure is all bad by the way

I dunno that I really want foreign investment though (they have nothing to tie them, even Ashley has something as yesterday probably demonstrated), but it it might be the only viable option now. We all thought Ashley being English was going to be a bonus for us rather than those horrible foreigners but it's certainly not panning out that way is it. And let's not forget Shepherd was a local businessman too. I really don't think it's a problem having a foreign owner and let's face it, it's becoming the norm. If we can get someone with resources and the willingness to spend of anything like those Arabs then we should grasp it with both hands. I don't think anyone wouldn't like things to be back to way they used to be with football clubs being owned by fans and money not playing such a massive role, but lets face facts, this isn't going to happen any time soon. I dont think the structure is all bad by the way Ashley has to seriously weigh up what's of more worth to this club, the current chairman and DoF or Keegan as manager. Baring in mind that the fans don't like the first two and Keegan's the one putting passion in the team it's a no brainer really. Moneywise if he ditches Keegan he's shooting himself in the foot, the other two however are expendable. Ashley has a way out of this mess, if he turns round and says he wasn't involved but is prepared to go with Kev's judgement then he can use Wise and Lambias as scapegoats, meaning he comes out fairly unscathed and still able to sit amongst the fans. I'd take them just for the excellent food that's likely to be served up at half time, and nobody's going to complain about the new owner downing an onion bahji while sitting with the fans. Happy Face 29
By the way, after this season doesn't Keegan only have one more year on a contract he's said he won't be extending even if he does stay? Of the two, Ashley is the one with the (apparent) long term commitment to the club, should he really bow to Keegans every whim on player recruitment when he'll be gone in 2 years guaranteed? Ashley can only assume that Keegan is looking for a short term fix and will leave the club with a squad of expensive old men who he can get no value back from.
