NJS 4355
just another situation like us and Rooney. Berb will go to united Couldn't help thinking the same.. Differnce is that ManU were willing to match what we offered, not sure they'll be willing to match this reported ridculoudly large bid. On the other hand it could be more like us/liverpool with Owen where the other team arrogantly expect the player to refuse to go to the higher bidder. Craig 6670
He wanted to move from Spurs to play CL football, right?? So why the fuck would he go to Man City? It's not even a sideways move, it's going backwards. If he honestly is considering signing on the dotted line for Citeh, I hope to fuck Big Mike is there with a pint in his hand trying to guzzump them! Has it not now come to the stage where it's less about playing Champions League football, and more about not playing at Spurs? I'm sure he'd rather play at Man U, but if they aren't prepared to pay the price, he's not going to sit in Spurs graveyard for the rest of the season. You're right in that Mike should at least throw his hat in the ring, but I reckon Kev would not be a hundred percent behind the idea of signing someone who hasn't exactly shown the best professionalism. Compare Berbatovs behaviour to Barry's. Both linked from second tier premier league clubs to a top four club, yet Barry has beena model pro and Dimitar has looked very much like a player who doesn't want to be there. Happy Face 29
How long's left on his Spurs contract? Better off sitting it out on their bench than taking another 4 year deal without champions league. Especially when his new club would need a £40M buyer to recoup what they paid for him if a top side did bid.

The Fish 10659
To be fair Happy, we don't know the deal being struck, the personal terms could well include a clause that if Man City do not reach Chapions League football he can be sold on at a certain price (£18m for the sake of argument) that way City get a top rate Striker for a year who normally wouldn't touch them with a barge pole (especially during this mental period of upheaval) and He gets first team football with a half-decent club AND the option to bugger off to Man U if things don't go well. By the looks of things City are showing a lot of ambition and it wouldn't surprise me if they were challenging for a CL place next season, they certainly look to be going places a lot faster than Spurs. By the looks of things their new owners are prepared to invest bucket loads of their own cash, more of an Abramovich scenario than a Leeds one imo. snakehips 0
I guess I'm not the only one who heard that this Abu Dabi United Group (sp) came trying to buy NUFC only to be told it wasn't for sale. Just think, we could have been offering shedloads of cash to buy tip top players today, instead of Citeh (best supported club in the history of football. Ever. FACT!). It's a funny old game. Probably less likely than Chelski, more than just 1 of them needs to get bored for a start.

Spending £100m and not getting in the Champions league might dampen the new owners enthuiasm. You can't waltz into the top 4 on the back of a couple of Transfer windows. In fact, I have it on exceedingly good authority that the Robinho move to Chelsea has stalled as Shola didn't fancy the move to Madrid as his replacement.
