Finally went to the doctor for it after trying every sleeping pill and stupid ass remedy everyone I knew suggested I try and it turned out I had a chemical imbalance (and depression as an additional result). Doc put me on Paxil for about a year, now I sleep every night. Massive improvement as I'd been only sleeping 3 or 4 nights a week when I finally went to the doc. That was about 5 years ago and I still sleep pretty well. Working shifts and being on call doesn't help much, but whaddaya gonna do? Looking back on it, I probably wouldn't recommend Paxil specifically (made me gain about 50 pounds in two months and the non controlled release verison would knock me out for 8 hours about 20 minutes after taking it), but it might not be a bad idea to stop by the doc and see what he thinks. No, but chemcial imbalances aren't unknown in my wider family I don;t think it's genetic though? It's what made my sister become a really succesful psychologist. I don't feel depressed, I did for about 6 months early 20's but that was too many drugs fucked me for a bit, but I do have some circumstantial shit at the moment, not least work but they're just every day stresses every fucka has. It'll only be a temporary thing. Lost loads of weight probably too quickly too, with gym work and not much food. Mine was just a unfortunate by-product of when your body goes through puberty and your brain and everything starts making new chemicals, mine didn't make enough serotonin apparently. Barring that, and this maybe isn't the best advice depending on your situation, but have you tried getting high before you go to bed? You would think I should be given the fact my sister is one of the most senior mental health people in London, but I've got a shit temper and fuck all patience. It is a vicious cycle though because the less sleep you get, the more depressed you feel because your brain isn't functioning properly. Sleep is food for the brain. White bread is very refined and contains a lot of sugars and sometime bleaches so it release energy a lot quicker than brown bread. I.e its high GI so in theory it will effect your sleep pattern. I read somewhere unless you're stimulting your body through adrenaline, i.e in sport or similar, after a certain amount of caffine, it has an opposite effect, i.e it sends your drowsy. I.e if you're sat at a desk working and your brain isnt pumping that much adrenaline in you (unless you're on webcam like........just saying).
