Pay Rise

The company I left sent out an email saying no raises or bonuses until the current financial climate in the industry settles. Now some of the bone idle fuckers there (one of the reasons why I left) are saying theyll go on strike or take 5 days extra holiday to make up for no annual raise.

Can they do this? They dont have to have an annual raise do they?

Not unless it was guaranteed in their contract Id assume. If extra days hols (unauthorised) the company I think would be well within their rights to treat it as unpaid leave or misconduct if is persisted. Unless a union is involved then Ive got no idea.

Well, I thought this also. If they take off the annual leave without permission arent they playing into the hands of the company and they can get rid without paying redundancies?

They are well above the minimum wage. So unless they wack the minimum wage I dont think they can ask for an annual raise?

I'll guarantee that's only below a certain pay grade though.
