Keegan's lost the plot...

Kevin Keegan insists he is happy that Shola Ameobi’s £2.4 million move to Ipswich fell through and believes the striker could end up as the club’s top scorer this season.

The 26-year-old had agreed a move to the Championship side after failing to secure a first-team place at St James’ Park, but the move was cancelled after the player failed a medical due to a hamstring problem.

But Keegan has now claimed he wants to keep the player and feels he could play a vital role this season.

“Shola is back with us and he will be in full training on Monday. He’s fit and I am quite happy to have him back,” he told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

“For £2.4m, where am I going to get a player like Shola?

“He knows the Premier League and the club and he understands the area. I don’t look at it as a minus at all.

“Who knows? He might be our top scorer this season – I wouldn’t put it past him.

“We all know players who were going to leave but stay and have a great season and then sign a new contract.”

Keegan is just trying to put a positive slant on a very negative situation.

There's still been some good Shola memories you know, two favourites are probably his goal against Chelsea, and his first away goal at Leeds, I had to dodge a few lunges in the Leeds end as that hit the net.

heh true like, imagine if it was Fat Sam.

But if it was that twat Allardyce we'd know there would be an element of truth and that the fat cunt would actually have him lined up as the next Geordie hero, with him being the lynch pin of his route one plan.

With KK it can be laughed off because we know it's bollocks and he's just bigging him up.

edit: khay you bastid, succinct as always!
