Happy Face 29
and he is not a CB! and hes rubbish! That's the response I was waiting for, it matches the Micah Richards response from this debate last time around.
Guest alex
Haven't read through this, deja vu anyway, but if people are saying the likes of Senderos and Johnson are shit they've got rose-tinted specs on if they reckon Taylor isn't. Because he isn't better than either of those players.
tinofbeans 91
agreed. taylor needs to learn composure, and reading of the game and to not dive in on tackles. a friend of mine said he'snot bad at the physical side of defending but put him up against a technically proficient forward (i.e. a dribbler) and he gets nothing out of them because he's not that good. the only 2 players in our back line that are any good don't have taylor on the back of their shirts. as for senderos he's actually better than taylor but again comes up short. regularly gets monstered by big players like drogba ad carew.... despite his size. Billy Whitehurst 931
I don't think Senderos is as bad as everyone says but I don't think we need him. Colocinni, Taylor, Bassong, Cacapa, and Edgar can do a job but I think our priority is another position (ie. attacking midfielder). Potentially, Senderos would improve us, but for that money, the money would be better spent elsewhere. On the subject of Taylor, I think he is a decent centre half who is worthy of his place. While he is no Woodgate, I think he is a decent premier league centre half. As for criticising him for acknowledging the supporters after the game, people would be wetting their knickers if he fucked of down the tunnel straight away. You are damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Edited August 22, 2008 by Billy Whitehurst

Baggio 0
Tbh i think hes come on perfectly well. Look at the decent English CBs around, Carragher, King, Ferdinand, Terry, Woodgate etc. None of them are 21/22 Richards and Wheater are the stand out young English centre backs in the Premiership. Taylor isn't anywhere near as good as either of them.

You can only blame the system and manager for so long, they just don't seem interested (Ferdinand excepted) when playing for England.

Billy Whitehurst 931
I have to say, getting back to Senderos. While I think we don't need another centre half, the only time I have seen him have a bad game was against Drogba. He was excellent when he had an extended run in the Arsenal team when they got to the Champions League final.
