bobbyshinton 59
Juventus midfielder Tiago has made it clear he is not willing to negotiate a move to Everton. The Toffees were thought to be closing in on an agreement which would see the Portugal international move to Goodison Park on an initial loan deal, with a view to buy at a later date. Juve were prepared to part with the former Chelsea man, freeing up space in their squad for a new arrival. However, Tiago has responded to the rumours suggesting he is set for an imminent return to England by declaring in Corriere dello Sport: "I will not be going to Everton." Spanish dream The midfielder's future is now up in the air, with his current employers keen to offload him before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. The 27-year-old is understood to prefer a move to Spain, although Atletico Madrid's interest appears to be on the wane. Juventus are set to discuss the situation at a summit meeting on Friday, where a plan of action will be determined. The Italian giants are confident they can still find a taker for Tiago and are prepared to accelerate talks with any interested

Dr Gloom 22535
I was told the other day that he was voted Serie A's biggest flop last season... i thought he looked canny at chelsea. industrious with a good touch. not sure he's the creative playmaker everyone's been hankering for but he's got to be a better option in the cm spot than the likes of geremi, barton and smith
Guest alex
I'd try turn Barton into a DM when we get a decent creative cm, if we didn't sign a good dm as well. only thing about proper specialised DM is they need a fair bit of discipline to just sit there and play cleanup duty like makalele did, bartons libel to fuck off forward now and again Barton's strength is going forward though. What makes you think he'd make a good DM?
Besty 4
Barton can't tackle at all either. Might aswell stick Alan Smith there instead...

Exactly, it's like people thinking Gravesen is some tough-tackling DM because he looks like a hardcase. I don't get this obsession with a specialist DM anyway though. It's just a trendy position* which very few clubs actually employ to good effect anyway. *Amongst fans/pundits etc. that is. Last time we had a decent side the central midfield usually consisted of Speed, Dyer or JJ. None of them were defensive midfielders...
