Jonas promises more to come

Magpies' Argentinian duo are an instant hit

By Chris Burton Last updated: 18th August 2008

Gutierrez: In action at Old Trafford

Jonas Gutierrez has vowed to build on his impressive Premier League debut against Manchester United.

The Newcastle winger announced himself in style at Old Trafford as he put in an eye-catching display against the reigning champions.

His tireless running and ability to run at defenders quickly endeared him to the Magpies faithful.

His countryman, and fellow new recruit at St James' Park, Fabricio Coloccini also appears to have adapted well to life in England after little time to get accustomed to his new surroundings.

Both men are due to represent Argentina in a friendly against Belarus on Wednesday, but Gutierrez insists the duo will be ready for a return to domestic duty when Bolton arrive on Tyneside at the weekend.

Honour

"We both like to play for our country. It is a great honour for us, so now we have a friendly match with Belarus and we go away very happy," he said.

"We come back on Thursday night, which is near the Bolton match, but we will be prepared to play.

"Fabricio enjoyed the (United) match. It was a great start for him and the rest of the team.

"He is looking forward to more, like I am."

It's nice to see that Jonas and Collocini are fitting in well. They both seem to be quite happy with the club and squad.

Jonas gave a good interview on NUFCTv regarding the Manchester game and seems over the moon to be here. B)

It's great that we've had two players like this come in and knuckle down straight away, hopefully they will both be pretty much injury free throughout the season and will be a reliable backbone to the team.

Incy Wincy spider climbing up the spout

Down came the rain and washed the spider out

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
