Australia v World XI

Well Australia after making a good start by Gilchrist and Katich had some middle order problems with Marto and the NSW pin up boy, Clarke. Most batsman made a start but didnt go on with it leaving Brett Lee to smack the bejesus out of the ball in the last couple of overs and once again West Aussie legend Mike Hussey made his mark. Time for a test call up me thinks as the man is a dead set gun!

In the end Australia made 8/255 after their 50 overs.

World XI fielding a side, which on paper should win, have gotten off to a terrible start 8/138 after 37.2 overs. Sri Lankan keeper Sangakkara made 65 and Flintoff is on 31* at the moment but other then that everyone made single digits. Sehwag (6), Kallis (8), Lara (0), Dravid (4), Pietersen (2), Afridi (2) and Pollock (5).

Well done Australia a good come back after the Ashes series against the worlds best players!

Good job Tendulka was knackered like. Anyway, Pietersen took a catch finally. Was surprised to see Muralitharan playing, thought he wasn't going to return to Australia after the 'no-ball' stuff (which by the way I applaud our Aussie cousins for ;) ). Chucker.

Yeah would of loved to have seen the little master out there. Then again i would of loved to have seen a game in Perth, once again we are the shit kicker of a state!

On Murali he was even throwing the ball in from the outfield. Thought he had stopped that due to his shoulder but still even his throws from the outfield look dodgey as all fuck. Still is a chucker mind. Will go down as getting 600+ wickets of which 400 were no balls.

Pointless farce IMO, particularly as Australia were thoroughly outplayed in the Ashes.

And I don't understand what's wrong with throwing the ball in from the outfield!

No problems just that his throwing from the outfield looked rather painful and rather uncoordinated. Looked rather humerous i thought!

I wouldnt say we were thoroughly outplayed as it was a close series. Saying we got thoroughly outplayed sounds like we lost the series 4-1 or something when it was only 2-1 and about 3 of those tests were decided late on the last day. Having said that we may have lost a series but we have won just about everything in the 4 years before hand to keep our status as the number 1 test playing nation.

Pietersen adds to his rather solid collection of one-day catches actually, just managed to frop 6 in tests. That's all.

43375

Oh aye, the point was he dropped 6 in a row. I remember a couple of his one day catches being slightly dodgy like, one of them grounded iirc. He was unlucky in the Ashes with his catching, it was just nice to see him get the monkey off his back and give it a shoeing. Anyway, we still won the Ashes, just thought I'd mention that again... ;)

Apart from Shane Warne and one spell from McGrath England were on top for practically the entire series. But yes, Australia are still number one, but as you say that's on their (admittidly awesome) past record.

Oh and we're playing Pakistan next. No Simon Jones though. ;)

43489

Simon Jones was great throughout the Ashes i thought and when he got injured at the Gabba (i think) when England last came to Australia i felt for him and England as i saw his potential then.

Going to be a great bowler if he can stay injury free!

Aye, they'll be one huge applause when he does catch one in tests from the crowd (well if in England, but hopefully we won't have to wait that long!), and an even bigger sigh of relief for himself.

In the 2nd ODI, Australia made 4/328 in their 50 overs with Gilly just hitting a lazy 103 from 79 balls, Ponting (66), Marto (54), Katich (47) and Symonds at the end of the innings smacked 31 off 17 balls. Flintoff, Akhtar and Kallis all got smacked.

World XI are at 1/40 off 7 overs. We could see a great run chase on a good wicket with Sehwag out but Sangakkara and Gayle are in.

Afridi got dropped for Gayle for the 2nd match.

Two questions:

Who won the Ashes and where was Wellsy?

;)

43667

England won somehow... but only after they distracted Warney with women. Then there was this bloke called Flintoff...

Where was i? I was staying clear of poms as much as i could until the euphoria of winning died down ;)

Australia defeated the World XI by 55 runs to win the ICC Super Series for the ODI's.
