Fop 1
What will people moan about now? Well we're only 11th with only 37 games left this season, and that Man United team didn't have Ronaldo, Nani and Tevez playing. Sorry I'm not being a pessimist - I'm a "realist"... Your laughing, but how many papers will trot out the 'Man U under strength' line whilst conveniently forgetting we were missing Barton, Owen and Viduka who would probably all have started. Bound too be like that.
ULSTER MAG 0
Great performance by all the new signings, Jonas especially. N'Zogbia needs replaced at RB as soon as, otherwise the defence looked comfortable enough. Phone has been very quiet from all my manu friends for a change. Listening to 909 on the way down the road, they want to no why Taylor isnt getting into the International squad.
Steve 0
Just got back from the match (proper superfan me). Anyway, I thought Jonas was by far our best player. Looked like he faded towards the end but it is only the opening game and he wasn't the only one looking a little slower by the final whistle. Coloccini had a few rough moments here and there but overall looked solid. I thought our biggest problem was upfront, Martins and Duff were both too small. We missed Viduka, another big striker is desperately needed. And the Manc fans were absolutely shit. Hardly a peep out of them for the whole 90 mins save their goal. spongebob toonpants 4159
I love Keegan We played with spirit and confidence, everybody seemed to want the ball, they all took responsibility I feel like we've got our team back. I dont care who is responsible for bringing players in, Spiderman Guthrie and Colo all looked class and exactly what we needed, so whoever it is can carry on doing it. Would prefer Enrique at left back, Zoggy further forward and Guttierez on the right, but great display today. Great discipline and deserved the point. How many people are starting to realise that Taylor is much better than they thought ? Alongside Colo he should come on leaps and bounds now. Todays game underlined that we still need more up front, thats not a criticism because I'm dead pleased overall with today, but with more up front and better possession we could have won this game. Guest Stevie
I think we can. It will be a long time till we go to Old Trafford with a better chance of winning than next week. I watched them yesterday, toothless tigers would describe them nicely. Without Rooney and Ronaldo, they are no where near as potent, James only had about 3 saves to make yesterday, and if we stick together, I think we can get a result. I might be mad, but I have a positive feeling about it. :panic: I'd like to think we could get a result but that's just excitement and optimism for the new season, I think though. No Rooney or Ronaldo is a plus but it's not like they don't have other players to punish us. A cheeky early Owen goal though and it'll all get a bit interesting. Or they'll kick it up a notch and wallop us 4-1. Anything better than a 6-0 hoofing is an improvement... I reckon we'll get tanked 2 or 3 nil actually. I think we can. Gemmill 46126
The thing I instantly like about Guttierez is his willingness to bomb on when he picks the ball up. We've been missing that since Dyer left - someone willing to make things happen.

Guest Stevie
Thrilled to fuckin bits, you know the best bit about for me, normal Newcastle you think it's only a matter of time before we lose our composure fall to pieces, lose our shape, after 60 minutes of the game I just knew it wasn't going to happen, and that's what has thrilled me more than anything. If we can take this solidity places like there, you never fuckin know we might be back in the top 6. Gutierrez was immense, he runs at them with no fear, no respect, and that;s good, Coloccini should be the same. It used to do my head in when Allardyce used to say "we'll give this team the respect they deserve". Fuck respect, obviously if you're playing against Ronaldo, you give your defenders and midfielders, more specific instruction than if they're up against Marcus Bent, but fuck respect. Cloughie used to say let them worry about us, don't worry about them, and I think Gutierrez and Coloccini can come in to this league with that attitude. Their national team is arguably the best squad on earth, they are in it, they were distinguished in the second best league in the world, so why should they come here and feel inferior to anyone. That's the problem with the toon down the years, the players go on the pitch and they're beaten before a ball is kicked. I'm telling you now, we're going in the right direction, Spurs have made Newcastle signings this summer, we have made fuckin intelligent signings, early days but fuckin keep up the good work on and off the pitch. I'm waiting for the first cunt to say Reading drew there early doors last seaoson 1) they didn't play as well as us and 2) we could have easily won that today. After my post about Beye today as well he was far from at his best today, and I'll never know how Butt got MOM, but tremendous tremendous stuff. If we can't sell out next week on the back of that we're a wank club.
