Lets hope we do something with the money!

We will, the deals to try and sell Ameobi and Smith were to reduce the wage bill and raise some revenue.

As these deals didnt come off, its my reading of the situation that this deal was accepted to allow for additions.

Its all well and good pointing to the size of the squad but you need to get rid of salaries too if you want to offer large ones to new players.

So we sacrifice the lowest paid first teamer we have?

Or sell the lad who's a dead ordinary player and has just put in a transfer request and a club is prepared to pay over £10m for, to put a slightly different slant on it.

wasnt Milner only on £15k a week anyway?

I doubt it, he signed a new deal 12 months ago.

But agreed it 24 months ago.

[/PFA line towing]

I know but I doubt he agreed to £15k then either

So long as we get someone in Ill be happy with this. Good luck to the kid, he didnt make a song and dance about it and was professional to the end. but, its a great bit of business from our point of view so long as we replace him.

Perfectly valid, but the slant was lowering the wage bill.

I can see your point totally. I guess it was just too much ££ to pass on.

Rather see Smith gone as everyone else says. Stupid overpaid rubbish twat.

The slant was more freeing up wages where and when you can.

So would Ashley but KK wanted him to stay according to the rumours, at least.

"makes spacka face"

He would have stayed if we had increased his salary. Therefore selling him saves the increased salary and the selling fee.

If only we'd sold Taylor too.

Why do people keep bringing up Taylor in replies to me?

Hmmm....I can't believe KK doesn't think he could get a better player for £60k a week. Very strange IMO.

Is this from your Dad's mate btw....got any more goss?

Hmm, I'd hope that selling Milner would be an indication that we must have something in the pipeline prior to deadline day, otherwise we wouldn't have let him go - transfer request or not.

On a side note I don't think he's a great loss, but it is another decent squad player out of the door and it's squad players we could do with to bulk the squad out sadly.

... hope he breaks his leg though

With that in mind, what's the chances of re-signing Zico Hughes?

Just to be clear, this doesnt reduce the wage bill by 15k. It reduces it by 15k + what Milner was demanding.

...which was parity with Taylor = £35K/week

....but now we need to buy 2 £35K/week midfielders by Monday, rather than the one we were after previously.
