Olympic Football

Oh man, this is going to be great. :D Just watched Brazil-Belgium. Absolutely lousy game on a pock-marked pitch, two Belgians (including Kompany) sent off for multiple yellow card offences such as clipping heels, breathing, existing and not being Brazilian, and a probably deserved but decidedly underwhelming victory for the boys in yellow.

Can't believe I've missed the first women's games, there's nothing quite like a flapping goalkeeperette to keep the spirits high during a dull work day.

Olmypic football is shit. The Olympics are only good when they represent the best of the best in a given field. With the slight caveat that the boxing can be good, although they are the best amateurs and the two disciplines are quite distinct.

I remember Ronaldo in Atlanta '96 going by the name of Ronaldinho. :D

Ah, the days when Ronaldo could be called any kind of -inho without triggering a tidal wave of guffaws.

Olympic footy would never work for a 'British' team because it'd be forced upon them to make up the squad of players coving the whole of the home nations whether they were good enough to be there or not. I can't see the other countries being happy that the majority of the team would be English.

That Saudi referee was a complete tool, like :)

Should be canny. Argies vs. Ivory Coast is on at the minute. 1-1.

That's why Ferguson should be manager.
