Guest alex
He was fit for the World Cup. He wasn't 'match fit' and it shows with him more than others because his game is based on his sharpness. Skol's spot on btw.
Guest alex
He's likely to pick up hamstring niggles - aye. He isn't likely to pick up injuries like he did twice since he joined us - that was bad luck. You do realise the whole of the last sentence is inaccurate, don't you? Eh no or do you not remember oct/nov 07? rushed back for a game with austria or something and tore a musscle Thought you meant for the World Cup. The above hardly 'crippled' him, did it? Anyone, there's clearly no reasoning with you on this. We'll see who we get if he does leave, eh?

And didn't he play for us after the operation but before playing for England?

No your right he was only missing for a month and a half sure whats 600k+ in wages because he rushed back for a game with Austria eh?... aye he's well worth the cash I never said he's been good value. I'm saying he could be a good player for us in the future. He's still a canny bit better than 90% of our players at least. And with the current England situation he needs to be playing well for us to get a game although I'm not convinced that's his sole motivation anyway. He's a very good pro and a very good player so answer me this - how many others do we have you could say that about?
Park Life 71
motivation anyway. He's a very good pro and a very good player so answer me this - how many others do we have you could say that about? it's a case of "best of bad situation" that's not that compelling... and we have very very little because our squads small and generally shite your quite right but giving someone with his track record a straight wages deal of that size would be insane... bet if he was on an appearances/goals contract he wouldn't be rushing back for internationals straight after an injury before playing for the club.. doubt anyone would disagree with that always wondered if we had have signed Anelka at the time instead of owen, wonder where the savings in transfers and wages would have went.. With hindsight Anelka would have been the better option. This scenario with Owen is interesting however cause we (the club) seem to have made it public that we want to offer him a new deal with lower wages. It's not an easy scenario for him to come away from looking good (unless he takes the deal). He must have half an eye on running the contract down or IMO the deal would have already been done. You could have just said if you couldn't answer my question. I thought it was a fair enough thing to ask given your criticism of the player. I fail to see how not going for Anelka or the size of the deal is Owen's fault either.
Park Life 71
i did answer your questioni said your right we don't have many of owens quality in our squad because 1. its small and 2. it's pretty shit we have some decent players and professionals, some of which might have thought twice about running out for their country before fully fit and haven't kicking a ball for their club and no your right Its Souness and shepherds fault for blowing 18m and those kind of wages on someone with an injury track record like his who had previously been bought for £10m less. anyways we'll see this season how he goes eh? i reckon he's going get more injuries and play as little as before and we'll see how happy you are if we give him another big money contract and that happens.. He won't get a new big money contract.
Baggio 0
He's worth an absoloute mint to us in terms of marketing. Have you got any figures or anything to back that up?

Fop 1
In which case i'll be happy because he doesn't deserve oneand if he picks up more injuries and plays as little as before it'll not matter If Owen doesn't play often and play well this season we're in trouble. Viduka will be out a fair bit. Martins & Shola I just can't wait.
