"We are forging a commercial tie-up with the club," he told the Evening Chronicle. "We are hoping to be a strategic partner of Newcastle United in the Far East.

"I can categorically say I am not involved in buying the club and will not become director of football.

"I would love to be. It would make good sense because there is always something happening there, but I am not.

"What we want to do is turn Newcastle into Asia's favourite club and if we were going to target any club outside of the top four, it would be Newcastle because of the history, the fan base and, like I said, there is always something happening here."

You NEVER hear about clubs like Everton, Tottenham, Villa spoken about like this, and never will. I've long said Leeds are and will be the sixth biggest club in England sooner or later because that's their natural position in my view.

Go on admit it, you rate yourself as a cut above, dont you?

As fans I think the average North Eastern fans are a cut above the average Southern fans. I think a lot more fans from the south will support clubs that aren't necessarily their local club, than football fans from the North. We tend to support our local club.

I also think that we're more committed, we've not had cup or league trophies in years (I'm including the mackems in this) and yet our attendances top the charts year in, year out.

I do not doubt for a second that there are groups of fans in all clubs who are as committed as they can be, I just think that the core fan base is disproportionately larger for fans from the North East than it logically should be.

no cups, no leagues in decades and yet we still get more fans than so called big clubs.

Like I say, there are obviously hardcore fans at every club.

BFITW?

"Best fans In The World." © Sky Sports and The Premier League - Football didn't exist before we did

No-one's claimed we have the best fans in the world. It's a claim you've projected onto us and then denigrated us for. I responded to your attempted wummery to show that although not necessarily the best in the world (which would be a pathetic claim from any set of fans), we're certainly no worse than Spurs and after 5 hours considering a response you've decided to ignore the point I made completely and just repeat yourself.

Case closed I think.

Hansen said he'd played in Scotland, in World Cup's, at Anfield and there was crowd like the toon fans. His exact words were "If trophies were given out for support, they'd win the Premiership, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and the boat race" and of course he was right.

Alex we have found one, well and truelly brought into the myth.

The Lane rocked for 90 mins in the 5-1 against the scum, we regularly take 6K on European jaunts.

Do I think we are any better than any other set of fans? Apart from the obvious offenders (Fulham / Bolton) no.

Are we any worse than the Geordies, hell no.

Of course you are you fucking idiot. You're shit. You couldn't even take 6,000 to a party city like PRAGUE and struggled to fill your 3000 allocation. Get it in your head, the country thinks you're shit, and always will.

Potential business partner in club praise shocker.

Mansion and Puma combined sponsorship deal for Spurs? 80m.

Northern Rock sponsorship of Newcastle? Some subprime debt and a bottle of Broon.

What a bell end of John Holmes proportions.

Do I think we are any better than any other set of fans? Apart from the obvious offenders (Fulham / Bolton) no.

If you don't see the problem with this statement, the point is lost on you.

Fulham, Bolton, Blackburn, Boro' all have shit fans imo. I think Liverpool have vocal (if annoying and cliché-ridden), some Man U fans (certainly their away support) is top notch.

The Point is that some clubs have good sets of fans, som clubs don't. Newcastle have a great set of fans, it's remarked by our fans, our players and our staff as much as it is your fans, your players and your staff. It's widely recognised that we do have a great set of fans except by fans of other clubs who seem to think, that we think we're "the best fans in the world". We not, we're just good, as are the fans of Pompey (imo) as are the Man U away crowds, the Baggies were entertaining, loyal and vocal.

the problem arises when someone from a different club takes umbrage with Newcastle getting praised for something when we haven't won anything in years. They mock it because they see "victories" in these fields as somehow taking attention away from the fact we haven't won owt.

We've got good fans, we've got a good history, we've got a good stadium, we're a big club. A spurs/Villa/Everton Fan hearing any of this instantly gets petulant and feels the need to snipe at the statement as if, praising Newcastle United for these things, somehow devalues their own club, which smacks terribly of insecurity.

in short. We drew with PSV 2-2, so why the fuck are you arguing something that is undefinable and intangible in this thread?

and you can't tell the difference?

A. You have a bigger stadium, of course your average attendance is better

B. That makes us 92% full on average vs your 85% full.

C. If you are going to pull stats, make sure they benefit your argument.

To be fair to blackburn their the fans they have are fine they just don't have many which is what comes from being a small club with a small ground in a small town

A.We have a bigger stadium due to demand. (demand still there for 60k btw)

B. % Means fuck all. So if a club with a 1k capacity sells out 100% are they better?

C. It does benefit my arguement.

D. Your fans are shit.

That 4-3 game at Upton Park, the game was on general sale 5 days before the Sunday, and it still fukcing didn't sell out, 7 miles away. Unbelievable. To compare to Tottenham to Sunderland or Leeds fan wise, is a disgrace on both those clubs, to compare you to Middlesbrough is probably the nearest comparison you can get.

Can anyone here remember the 400 they brung in the Cup for that 6-1 game pmsl? You just need to go on your official site to see how shite your away sales are, nearly everyone is on general sale, even Chelsea 3-3 in the Cup, GENERAL SALE, 20 quid a ticket against your most hated rivals, amongst proper Spurs anyway of which there aren't many in fairness. Shit club, shit fans.

So Stevie where would you put your support in terms of English club football?

If you include JCL's of other clubs joint 3rd, take away the JCL's in terms of true support second.

Spurs I'd have 10-12th maybe.

My god are you stupid, our ground is 36K, even if we had all the demand in the world we couldnt beat you on that score.

You are comparing apples with oranges mate.

The only way you could use those stats is if we both had 200K stadiums that we would never reach capacity.

God, dont fancy the schooling up there much.

That includes when our stadium was 36k also. I think the true percentage is around 98% actually.

I'd agree with that if it was simply the number, but they're silent home and away (except that twatting drummer). Plus they're just not as knowledgeable as many fans of other clubs. They're like American Marines, they turn up banging their drum, spend the rest of the time their complaining because they don't know why they're there and then slope off home depleted in numbers and motivation for the next time ti kicks off
