Squad player before, Squad player now

think charlie would be better in centre mid than milner, but i'd still much rather we got a proper one in than a makeshift

Charlie is on another planet compared to Meewner, especially in the middle imo.

Don't know what that's based on because he's never actually played that well in the middle. I prefer N'Zogbia but he's so overrated in some quarters it's untrue.

i thought he did alright in the middle when we were a midfield 3 - iirc in the tail end of roeder's first season in charge

Probably drink more than I should before games these days but I thought he played on the left of a four mostly in the spell you're on about.

maybe it wasn't then...i can't remember. i sure there was one point when he played well in a midfield 3 - was it under souness maybe?

I can think of one match - Derby away I think it was. We were dire, he did ok. That was about 4 years ago though.

i'm sure he had a run in the side in a 3 man midfield at a tail end of a recent season....just not sure which one

Those performances must have really stood out then.

my memories fucked. too much cainage over the years

You sure it's not Pro-Evo you're thinking of?

Shades of Rob Lee in this decision.

Can I just remind everyone KK signed and converted from a winger our best centre midfielder of the last twenty years.

:headphonedance:

And as Alex said Charlie is to dumb to play in the centre or in a free role. His decision making is appaling.

Gary Speed was another player succesfully converted from winger to centre mid in his time here(but under Kenny).

Not sure if Milner is good enough but I'd like to see him given a chance.

Speed was already a central midfielder at Everton before he came here wasn't he? I think Dalglish played him on the left here at times because we already had Lee and Batty at the club.

Yeah. Speedo was always a centre midfielder with the curse of having a left peg. :headphonedance:

Think he played on the left at Leeds but he was a left-sided player rather than what you'd call an out-and-out left-winger. He was never that sort of player.

Ah, my mistake. Always thought he was a winger at Everton and Kenny had the foresight to get him into centre mid.

He was terrible on the wing for us initially, iirc. Can anyone remember if he was bought for that position?

You'd have to ask Dalglish what he was playing at there.
