And the first episode was canny. Reminds me of Jarhead.

Really enjoyed the first ep. Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Yup - its an HBO show, so it should be seriously good.

When is ep2...err...around?

Its available now - i started the download last night but it was incredibly slow.

I'm on S2 ep3. :good:

:shades:

how's that?

from tv.com

Next episode: Stay Frosty

First Recon get their next mission, which is to help escort the Iraqi civilians leaving Baghdad from a nearby highway, while trying to help them flee, the men see the humanity in the Iraqi civilians; First Recon come to the realization that since Baghdad is the next stop for American and Coalition forces, their war is almost at a close.

Airs: Sunday August 17, 2008

and that's episode 6 of a seven parter.

Not for the faint-hearted, this seven-hour scripted mini-series spotlights Marines fighting in the Iraq war during the early onset of the conflict. This is an adaptation of Rolling Stone's contributing editor Evan Wright's book of the same name.

I've been downloading each one as they are happening but am yet to watch as I've got far too many things ongoing at the moment, so once the series is finished going to burn them and watch them all like that.

Wasn't impressed with the first few episodes which were annoyingly full of unnatural exposition. But happy enough to stick with it and it rewards that, getting better and better until it peaks with a "Man Comes Around" montage at the end.

More of a film than a TV series (being just the 7 hours), you can forgive it's flaws because there's certainly been no other film or TV series* that's highlighted to such a degree what a complete clusterfuck the occupation was/is.

*Not drama anyway, documentaries like Iraq in Fragments and Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers are still a cut above.
