Geordie Boyo 24 Posted July 17, 2008 Share Posted July 17, 2008 I've downloaded it from bittorrent and burned it onto a CD-R80 disc, but during start-up I can't reboot & install it. Fop 1 Posted July 17, 2008 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Well you're always better going for a clean up-to-date install if you can (preferable one with as much extraneous stripped out of it as possible), windows will marginally degrade itself with updates (), but it shouldn't really be noticeable unless your install is already groaning badly. I haven't got any sound on at the minute, which is doing my nut! I've tried all sorts, but there appears to be something missing from my sound card....frigging sick man! I've had no end of people come to me asking me to sort their machine out because its constantly rebooting. Took SP3 off and hey presto, all working swimmingly again. Same carry on as when they first released SP2 - although they're not saying it, you're effectively beta testing it for them! What's more annoying than anything is that they're pushing it through Windows Updates so all those who never bother to check them are installing it without realising... I just had SP2 at the time, but only just recently installed SP3 yesterday in hope that installing new software it might update and make the sound on my computer work again. Fop 1 Posted July 24, 2008 Share Posted July 24, 2008 Something I've just discovered with sp3 is that it can bugger up your add/remove programs.
