Geordie Boyo 24
I've downloaded it from bittorrent and burned it onto a CD-R80 disc, but during start-up I can't reboot & install it. Is there some way I can get round this by deleting the previous SP package and install this one?
Geordie Boyo 24
With the previous SP installation being on my hard drive, will it not clog up my memory?

Fop 1
Well you're always better going for a clean up-to-date install if you can (preferable one with as much extraneous stripped out of it as possible), windows will marginally degrade itself with updates (), but it shouldn't really be noticeable unless your install is already groaning badly. Not sure it'll really help that much with vista anyway, basically you (always) need a bigger boat.
Geordie Boyo 24
Brave man putting SP3 on IMO...... I've been rebooting, installing new packages and all sorts because of various problems. I haven't got any sound on at the minute, which is doing my nut! I've tried all sorts, but there appears to be something missing from my sound card....frigging sick man! I've had no end of people come to me asking me to sort their machine out because its constantly rebooting. Took SP3 off and hey presto, all working swimmingly again. Same carry on as when they first released SP2 - although they're not saying it, you're effectively beta testing it for them! What's more annoying than anything is that they're pushing it through Windows Updates so all those who never bother to check them are installing it without realising... Geordie Boyo 24
The problem with the sound basically happened when I installed a product recovery CD to reboot my system. I just had SP2 at the time, but only just recently installed SP3 yesterday in hope that installing new software it might update and make the sound on my computer work again. Fop 1
Something I've just discovered with sp3 is that it can bugger up your add/remove programs. It's more or less fixable, but requires copying .dll's and then buggering around with your sysoc.inf a fair bit. Bad, bad microsoft.
