Looks promising that we'll sign aimar and also looking at insua at liverpool, cant help but think we shall be seeing some attractive football at st james next year and a bit of grit and determination too! Guthrie will bring energy and drive as too will barton if he returns, giving us that bite in the engine room. Paired with gutierrez and aimar some much need creativity, our midfield looks tasty!!

Given

Beye Taylor Faye Insua/Enrique

Milner Guthrie/Barton Aimar Gutierrez

Owen Martins

Is that not a side capable of a top six finish?

I think so.... :D

I was mearly suggesting that the 11 i mentioned would hold there own in europe and finish in top 6 obviously we still need strength in depth but we have plenty of time yet...plus id like to think the you lads ie.tozer, kadar, lua lua, carroll, baheng and zamblera would be part of thr senior squad this year too...

As it stands if we sign Aimar we will have a 30 man squad, of that 9 will be young talents...with potential 5 more signings (RB,LB,CB,AMC,ST) we'd have a pretty stable squad im my opinion and with a good 7 weeks left of transfer window im confident of all of the above...

I agree. 5 top class signings could give us a squad capable of challenging for 6th.

Depends on what you call top class tho dont it mate?

Aimar is a top class signing but we're not gonna get 5 more signings like that, id be happy with a few players who have shown they have potential and a coupleof grafters...

RB...Any suggestions???

LB...Insua

CB...Any suggestions???

AMC...Rakitic

ST...Derdiyok

I don't watch much football apart from Newcastle mate, those names sound like Lord of the Rings characters to me.

By top class, I mean as good as we currently have, which is pretty generous.

i would say maybe a top 10 finish. we won't be anywhere near the top 6 with that side. we need at least 3-4 first team additions to the squad imo
