Besty 4
Hamburg midfielder Nigel de Jong is in talks with Newcastle United. The Sun says Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan wants to strengthen his squad - and Hamburg's De Jong, who starred for the Dutch at Euro 2008, fits the bill. The German outfit, managed by former Tottenham boss Martin Jol, are keen to do the deal with the Toon as long as personal terms can be agreed. Ex-Ajax ace De Jong is 23 and has already won 26 international caps. He can play as either a defensive midfielder or right wing-back. David Kelly 1280
Isn't it The Sun that linked us? Yeah so probably bollocks but from what I've seen of him and at the price they are quoting it would be a canny deal.

ewerk 31596
De Jong ignores Toon talkby Adam Marshall, 16 July 2008 Nigel De Jong claims he is only focusing on Hamburg after being linked with a move to Newcastle United in the English press. The Sun claimed Kevin Keegan is already in talks for the Holland international but the midfielder is only looking forward to working under Martin Jol next term. "I am in HSV now and I am concentrating on the new season," he told Spox. "Everything else, whether there are other offers, does not interest me. "Sure, if you have a good European Championship then it's easy to get one or the other offer but, for me, this is not so important. "I am just focused on HSV." The 23-year-old joined Hamburg from Ajax in 1996 and is a versatile performer who would be well suited to The Premier League.
